Best timings for AMD?

As i'm a newbie AMD'er, i'm not really up to scratch with the likes and dislikes of AMD's.

I remember reading somewhere that AD's like a certain timing on memory set for best performance.

ATM, my ram is running at 3-4-4-8 (because its got the nuts OC'd outta it), but i thought that i read somewhere that AMD's like x-x-x-10 timings....is that right?

TBH I have no idea and it's best to wait for someone who knows what they're talking about like Frag.. But I thought it was the same as Intel.. The lower the better

I though that lower for the first three was better and that you get all of them as low as possible.

I also think that timings of 3-4-4-8 are too loose for an A64 system....but then if it works well for you...

Yeah...that is true that the lower u can ge tthe 1st 3 the better...but as for the 4th, i thought that AMD's liked a certain setting there.

And yes...i agree...those timings are poo...but its because the ram is running OC'd quite a bit...and even with 3.6v it won't tighten any more..

Well for my old XP it used to run best at either 8 or 11, but currently I can run 11 x 230 @ 2-3-3-5.....so I dunno!

well i have my GeIL Golden Dragon, PC3200, 2.7v (Rated to 2.95v), at 2-3-3-5 . They stock @ 2-3-3-6.

Thats the thing...at stock speeds my ram can do 2-2-2-5 with enough voltage, but as its running at 285mhz at the moment i cant have tight timings. Hence the reason for my upgrade asap

Yeah my RAM is rated to do 2-2-2-5 with stock voltage...and it does.....its just when i OC that I have to loosen a little....TCCD Jim...TCCD!!

A64 rigs seem to work best with the last timing of 5,6,10,12 in my personal experience... I currently have mine set at a divider and running 2-2-2-5 @ 212mhz stock voltage.

the tras value of 7 works the best on an A64 system. the most recommended are 6,7 or 8 . But do not loosen the timings to 3,4,4,8 unless you really have to.

The loosest I would go would be 2.5-4-4-8. If you got tccd , the try shooting for 2.5-3-3-6. Find your best voltage and then start messing with alpha settings and a weaker dram and data drive strenghts.

really sry to disappoint you frag but Rev.2 EL is definitely NOT the best TCCD around. The OCZ TCCD are good but Gskills more often than not kick their asses in timings and bandwidths.

Thats a fact.
