best solution to connect 2 PWM fans in one cpu header?

I use a ysplitter then i dissconnect one of the rpm monitor cables from one of them.
provided the fans are the same then the rpm from one is pretty much the same rpm you have on the other and is not going to confuse the system.
 
anything more than 2 fans off one header will need external power connectors. running 2 off a splitter should be fine as long as the combined power draw (documented on most high performance fans in Watts or Amps) isn't more than the rated limit in the motherboard manual it will be fine.
