Best real time spyware protection

Please to tell which is the best realtime spyware protector in your opinion on the market worth getting now? :)

Ill add them to a poll once I get recommendations/ideas so please dont recommend an idea if it has already been posted up, just vote for it. Cheers

I'm using f-secure, which I think is or was based on ad-aware. It has realtime protection.

I have tried running some scans with other anti-spyware stuff every now and then and they didn't pickup anything new. So I guess it works

Altho I also use adblock plus with the auto updater and a custom usercontent file which blocks a lot of stuff using wildcards etc.

I don't go on dodgy websites tho

Really?

So which has the "best" catch rate then..if not a fairly good real time protector.

Problem is f-secure is a AV too isnt it? I already have NOD32...Spyware doctor seems quite tempting as i can get registry doctor cheaper too!

I mean, i usually have the common sense on what is safe and what isnt but occasionally i do visit dodgy sites (not pr0n) and have been known to get a few nasties - some harder to remove than others. My sister is the main culprit - especially to those messenger spread stuff and also via bebo etc. etc.

Sometimes you dont know you have spyware until you scan though

TBH none work. Yes the scanners work but I've not met one real time one that works

Agreed, even the scanners that eventually tell u u`ve picked up stuff - fail to stop u getting it in the first place. Which seems bizarre to me.

imho AVG Pro Anti-Malware does a fantastic job, use Spybot S&D to clean up the rest

it picks up cookies and the like and just whacks em in your vault.

Superantispyware takes a long time to scan but it found an adware (vundo variant) whereas spyware doctor completely missed it while picking up 60 odd other pieces (most were cookies)

Theres no winning

I use the Spybot Search and Destroy immunize feature, I never get anything but tracking cookies. I don't know how well it works though cause I stay away from shoddy sites and I am careful about what I click.

I find not running Windows as my webbrowsing, torrent downloading, and family computer does the best job of fighting spyware.

But on my gaming pc, i have nod32 and spybot, with teatimer.

Spybot is crap and is known to GIVE you spyware which of course it "dosent detect".

It does? Since when?

turns out that Avast is pretty good laxative as well.

On my own in the house last Thursday, all PCs on, and nearly sh@t myself when I heard voices in another room - 'twas Avast telling me that it had updated itself.

Must turn off that feature.
