Hi guys ... I'm looking for to buy a new cooler for core i7 system and I wonder would the Scythe Mugen 2 be the right choice or what else you'd preffer me? what's the best deal on the market today?

Thanks a lot ... :)

Looking at how my cooler cooled my am2 I would suggest the noctua.

Someone here has one as well. They have also recommended it.

Cant put the name to the avatar. Got a picture of a yellow sailing boat.

thats the bugger lol, sorry monkey...

Lol :D At least my avatar is recognizable :p

Yea the noctua is a good one, dead silent with the LNA (9V iirc) adaptors too. It's head to head with the TRUE, but comes with fans and all making it - at least for me - better value.

I wish that the people who tested coolers would be able to test the main competitors.

Same rig, all lapped, non lapped, there own fan and a reference one. Would be good to see. Spose that there are so many variables.

The noctua vs true is very heated in some places.

noctua hands down.. i had the TRUE before in push pull with the same fans, noctua's just as good (if not better) and much lighter, less stress for the mobo.

Prolimatech Megahalems with 2 Enermax magma 120mms got a idle temp of 34c with my i7 920 @ stock for now.

:D

On a serious note- I ordered Noctua NH-U12P se2- all the necessary fans and all the necessary bolt thru kits and sold my ttbt which I used on 3 systems till now. Noctua heatsink and fan(s) is of really good quality. A friend of mine has this and paired it with a gigabyte motherboard witch a really big northbridge cooler. However there is enough clearance between the tall northbridge and the hsf- so no matter what kind of motherboard with different layout in the future- even with mosfets/solid caps being very near to the processor socket- shouldn't be problem. This is a brilliant product with good quality and vfm & will be with you for a really LONG time.

As for v8- pretty much I have the similar thoughts. Not sure about Megalahems. Take a look at tuniq tower 120 extreme as well.

for compatability you need to check out their website as there are a few mobos that are currently not supported.

Gah, no! :p

The two best coolers are: The Prolimatech Megahalems and the Thermalright IFX-14.

The Megahalems offers the best stock performance, while the IFX-14 beats it when pressure modded and lapped, and if you install 3 fans on there.

Don't look at the Coolermaster V8, it's pretty much an overpriced waste of money.
