Howdy,

I wanted to know the best headphones around. My budget is 150$. Its preferable to work with Ipad 2, but its not a must (I'd be glad if I find any that works with gaming really good and Ipad 2 as well)

Must be 5.1 real.

let the comments flow!

thanks and enjoy yourselves.

what I see is you mentioned me a headphone for Apple, Ipad2. as I stated that was optional, but that headphone doesn't have anything to gaming and is it 5.1? Thanks anyways

There is one thing I want to mention here and that is that 5.1 headphones are a total gimmick. If you want surround sound for your games or movies you are better off getting a decent speaker system than grabbing some "gaming" headphones. The only thing I would consider when buying a headphone would be stereo, the ones suggested by King_of_Sand are great for mobile use. If your main use is not going to be on the road but at your desktop. I would consider something like the Sennheiser HD555 or HD 558 to be optimal for you. They offer great audio reproduction for the prize. So yea, I would stay away from any 5.1 gaming headphones, because they will mostly give you a bad experience when listening to music.

Oh and another suggestion. Make sure you have some way of testdriving whatever you choose, because comfort and such vary a lot. So only trying them yourself will give you that information.

Thanks for your advice and sharing that information with me.

well I want a really good headset for both gaming and music as well.. I don't wanna still listen to trash bass when I pay 150$ for it..

Making it working for Ipad 2 was just optional.. it wasn't a must. I want it mainly for my desktop but I asked about an option if there's any headphone out there that works perfectly for both gaming/music and Ipad 2 as well.. so then I buy it instead of buying two separate headphone/sets. but on the Ipad 2, I don't play with it so much nor surf the web atm, so I need the headphone for my desktop, and I want it to show where my enemy comes from (Gaming) and as well to hear good sound quality while listening to music.

thanks again.

I would go with the Sennheisers I mentioned then. They will work on the iPad 2 just fine and will be amazing on your PC.

Or if you want smaller the Klipsch ones suggested earlier will do.

whats the difference between HD 555 and HD 558, and the prices as well.

The HD555 are a little less than $110 on Amazon, where as both the HD558 and HD595 cost around $170. The HD558 are a newer model of the HD555 and the HD595 are the next model up in the price bracket from the HD555.

Thinking about it now, I would say you will need not be able to hear any difference between them unless you are using a very high end soundcard + some good quality records. So I would save the $70 and just get the HD555. They are a "proven to be good" product.

well, the 555 looks a bit classic and I dont like these kind.. anyways what do you recommend than Sennheiser?!!

Roccat kave for example?

The klipsch image ones as i stated are great for games. I use them with BFBC2 and the deep base from the game the headphones handle with no sweat. Again they are the king of Cinima, so they are perfect for movies and games and sound great for music. I have the 555 and the 595 and the quality no were near stacks up to the Image ones.

I am audiophile so i have A LOT of headphones!

Also I don't think all surround sound headphones are gimmicks at all. The ones that use individual drivers in the headphones are but not headphones like the G35.

so what do you recommend at the end.. I can pay up to 170$ please choose the best headphone around that price and not less.

the 555 and the 595 are really nice heaphones but i found the quality of the sound from the image ones to be more pernounced. Klipsch is known having the ability of creating VERY deep bass, but not muddy bass, which is why they are seen mainly in theatres. Because of this ability they are great for games. The image one also has nice rich highs. For under $170 i dont think you will find anything better. But i must tell you, unless you have a nice sound card or heaphone amp you will not enjoy the full experience of these headphones. Also the added benefit of the Image ones are their portability and a mic. But they are not around the ear, headphones like the 555, they are on ear. BUT they are VERY comfy and the padding is VERY VERY soft, and they are VERY lite.

And what do you think about those gaming headphones like Roccat Kave, what do you think about Roccat kave specifically??

Never used them if you are looking for nice surround sound the ones i have used and highly recommend are the Tritton AX720, Logitch G35, and Logitech G930. I personally use the G930 for when i need surround sound. They are 7.1 and they are wireless so they are very nice to have and their are no wires that get in the way. and the 7.1 is VERY percise.

lets end this discussion.....

now for 150$.. the best 5.1 real gaming headphone with good sound quality as well.. goes for xxxxxxxxxxxx ?

so called "real" surround headphones are a joke. I can clearly identify all 7 points of sound on the G35. The only reason companies add extra sound drivers for so called "real" surround is so they can scam you out of more money.
