Being laid off

Well, it seems i am being laid off, my last day in work is the 24'th of december, so nice of these people to lay me off just before xmas, technically, my last day is the 25th, but who works on xmas day? ..its the week ending on the 25th dec that is my last week, so i am going to be without money for the time being, ...fortunate i guess that i have a 1.4 tdi, i dont have to give up my car....*touch wood*

there goes my idea of a new car

or any other idea that involves money, back on't rock'n'roll, been applying for jobs this last week, applied for 6 already, but nay yet, it seems nobody is hiring

reason im being laid off is because of cutbacks, due to my employment contract i cannot name the place i work, although a few people know it, but that sucks, 106.90 a fortnight again, when i have a phonebill of 88 / month, im going to be left with naff all, lovely isnt it.

currently i do 16 hours a week as a cashier, which gets me 98.40 a week, ...to go from that to 53.45, is pitiful, so, back to solving a rubix cube, due to not being able to aford anything else better to do, and applying for jobs where they take one look at me, huff, and probably chuck my cv in the bin, great.

Not to mention the woman at the job center who looks like a 40 year old zombie, looks at you going 'uhuh' while stinking of fags, and coffee, and not listening to a word you say, and not believing a word of it anyway....brilliant.

, do you live in your own property? If you don't lucky you, can get into some nasty debt switching from job to JobSeekers. I've been told it takes min 6 weeks to switch as it's not a priority.

My GF who now takes care of her nan who can hardly walk, she washes her, cleans her house, buys her shopping, helps her in and out of the house etc... with the current bills we have and debt, we're struggling very bad at the moment, but it's for a good purpose I guess. We don't like to take money from anyone else, but we're having to claim careers allowance as we're allowed some apparently. She claimed for it beginning of last month and it won't even be looked at until mid-end of January 2012 >.<. She explained how we're struggling affording all of this stuff, including about £40 per week petrol just to get there, they don't care at all.

Not meaning to be a downer but get in there today and tell them straight, you have to as the Jobcentre are C**** to say the least.

The amount of computer ounce you have about you, you should get yourself a foot-in at 'somewhere' doing even just imacs/support work. 99% of them are p1sh easy things to solve, and installing monitors... well yeah of course, anyone here can do that.

Take a long look at some of the recruitment agencies, get that cv in with them and just take anything. Pad it out with all the home rigs you've messed with, fault finding, friends and family you may have done repairs for or fixed problems - just word it to suit. These people find you jobs, cos they get finders fees etc. Even once you have one, they'll be sending you info about others.

Managerial people will tell you the tech sector is starved of people to recruit.

Equiv. of 4/5+ gcses and you show be fine.

No, i live with my gran, rent free, im really quite lucky in that respect, but the bills of my phone bill, and my car running costs are going to spiral out of control, and the fact i have £600 on my credit card, and £500 on my overdraft ...to then have my income cut by half is not a good situation to be in...

and i know what you mean, my gran is getting unable to do things in her old age, but she isnt bad enough for attendence allowance, which means no carers alowance, so she's on state pension, and im on the dole now.

that is a brilliant idea, the problem is, i am in the middle of nowhere, there is no ict infrastructure round here, the locals think calculators are witchcraft......well, not exactly, but they mightaswell, people round here think pencil and paper are more reliable than bits and bytes.

there are two types of job around here, retail staff, and retail managers, i dont have experience to be a manager, and as 500 people are applying for the general staff jobs every time one apears, i am just another fish in the sea to them, with little experience, having only worked at two places as a cashier.

i have 5 GCSE C's,

i have a BTEC in ICT merit/merit

i have a BTEC in business distinction

and i have done a year of uni management/marketing.

however, this doesnt classify me as 'experienced' and experience is what they want, i have a feeling, that like last time, i will be on the dole 6 months+

and as far as i know, there are no recruitment agencys in bridlington........as far as i know,....

dropped it to 26 a month, with the help of a forum member of another forum who works in the industry
