Be Quiet reveals their new SFX-L Power series of PSUs

You need a 600W for a 1070 so why do you think a 500W for a 1080 would be sufficient?

The 1070 "requires" a 500w PSU. That is Nvidia's reccs, though they always over shoot it by 100w just so they don't have lawsuits on their hands.

The 1080 reccs are identical. 500W. In other words providing you are not a belmet you could safely use a 400w or less PSU and you would be more than safe.

oh okay. I was just going by what was on the box of my MSI Gaming X 1070. For some reason they said 600W. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

That will pull a little bit more power, but certainly never another 100w. Well, maybe under extreme OC but most people with SFX rigs don't overclock and used locked CPUs too.
 
500w is enough and no problem for a 1080. Just dont go x99 itx with custom water loop and try and oc to the max cpu and gpu for example.

I had a 4770k + 1070 msi sea hawk ek version in a itx case with a sfx 500w and had no issues.

You would still be fine, even with a X99. Reason being? Asrock could not cram enough phases on there because it was ITX so overclocking is *extremely* limited and usually stock volts only. That board is pretty much a stock board only really.
