BBC and ITV to Launch BritBox UK Streaming Service This Year

Betting they still wont have shows like alf Garnet on it

The issue with shows such as that in today's world is that it lampoons a certain kind of ignorant, but dangerous, fool so well that those people came to like it and even identify with it. Which is better, to not satirise racists or to accidentally feed their cretinous views?

You can buy it on Amazon if you need.

You've got to laugh right.

Britbox by the BBC and ITV, and it's already available in North America but not the UK.

Or maybe people could gain the intelligence needed to realise that he was supposed to be an irritable racist old goat and that is why it was funny? You know? Something so ridiculous it's funny?

I'm pretty sure that's the point the show was making. Kind of like the racist policeman scene in The Young Ones?

There is such a thing as using political situations in life to create humour you know?

I'm not going to call you a snowflake like some of the bigoted racist Tommy Robinson supporters that used to be on Facebook but people need to realise that things like Alf Garnett are history and that's just how it was then. And we learn from our mistakes, instead of teaching children that it never happened in the first place and thus, a repeat of the same mistake?

That is one hell of a cringeworthy name for a streaming provider...

I reckon the BBC are done for. Like Blockbuster Video it's ran by old fools with no ambition or drive and thus far has refused to budge because it still uses extortion so the fat old white men that run it can fine dine every day.

I hope it goes the same way as BBV. They had every chance to buy Netflix and refused. That's what old men do to a company.

BBC is too set in its ways from 60s70s 80s. So many scandals on child grooming, abuse, internals scandals, incredible unequal pay between male and female... it goes on..

They do produce wonderful shows but their business practises are indeed old.

If this is meant for expats then I see it being very popular, over in Malta there's no legal way to access a load of UK TV content and even using paid VPN services with paid UK streaming accounts or iPlayer or similar is a massive challenge as most services will block all content if a VPN is detected anyway. There's a lot of retired people there who spend a lot of money on quite exotic and questionable solutions just to access some UK TV shows online.

Tbh the only thing I miss seeing is the six nations rugby, and british commentating on champions league/world cup and FA cup etc

The rest is easily available as we do have BBC channels here in Norway via our cable package. I personally dont see the point of this streaming project.
