Battlefield 4, 780 SLI & i7 3770K

Hi peeps i need some answers from people who arent just trolls on the battlefield forums, so ive decided to come here.

Right so my setup,

z77 sabertooth
i7 3770k @ 4.4
16gb corsair dom @ 1600hz
780 sli
intel 335 ssd.

so my problem, i want to know if my cpu is causing a bottleneck.

ive done various tests and basically, when sli is enabled i sort of average around 100-130 fps, with id say quite a few drops to 100-90, (less on siege of shanghai)

i also get around 50-70% usage on both my cards when running in SLI

however when i disable SLI i get 90% gpu usage but around 70-90fps average, does this mean theres a bottleneck, or is the game just poorly made.

i really cant see an i7 3770k bottlenecking these cards but, id also expect to easily maintain 120fps+ on ultra 1080p with 2 of these cards running.

No, that isn't a bottleneck. Its battlefield being, well, battlefield. You tried messing around with your drivers yet? (as in what driver are you running etc)

Well the 3770K shoud not be bottlenecking your 780's, Could either be a game problem, Driver issue or something you have running in the background.

Tried doing a total driver wipe and then reinstalling the drivers ?

And after that I also use driver sweeper - http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.html
To make sure I get all traces off my system before installing the latest driver.

The relatively low GPU usage when running the cards in SLI could be caused by any number of things. It could be a driver issue, it could be some sh**y optimization on EA/Dice's part (not a big surprise) or it could be a bottleneck (not likely, given your specs).

What version of the Nvidia drivers are you running? Do single player games suffer in the same manner? If that isn't the case, the problem lies with BF4.

thanks for quick replies, i have latest drivers, ive done a complete sweep of my drivers too. even unparked my cores etc.

i have actually never played single play bf4 will give it a whirl.

no other game seems to suffer other than bf3 where my fps is just all of the place tbh. but most my other games the fps is usually maxed, or its dayz, and well.. its dayz

Have a go on the test range in BF4 if your usage is ok there, the problem probably is when you connect to the multiplayer games with 32 or 64 players involved. This what I find needs a hefty CPU overclock.

ok so i went to test single player, i had to re download msi after burner cuz the trial ran out? reinstalled it and played with my OSD, but the usage says im only usage GPU2 and not GPU1 oO i checked nvidia cp and sli's enabled, plus my temperatures on both cards go up, plus running unigine i get my SLI fps not a single card fps performance (which is almost double so i know the difference) so i think its bugged or something :S thats going to make it harder to tell..

didnt show my usage on just one card before, even in the statistics graph is says 0 usage


my fps is like 180-200 on test range. i can really overclock my cpu anymore because it doesnt like too tbh, and i like my computer quiet and to keep my temps safe i keep my overclock quite low tbh.

I think if you are getting those sort of fps on the test range the problem is not at your end.

What graphics settings are you using as you don't really need the fps that high.

everything on ultra 1080p, obv in a 64 player server its around 100-130, depending on the map, but certain intensive places it goes to around 90 fps.

120hz monitor n all that

but shanghai, my god that map gives me terrible fps in places, like 70 fps sometimes, not even places you would expect, just random, then other places 140 oO random, and the latest patch seems to have dropped my minimum fps abit

I played BF3/4 on windows 8 recently and it was a lot smoother compared to 7, If your already on 8 then I aint got a scooby ^_^

what kind of fps do you get 1080p on ultra dicehunter if you dont mind me asking. and how stable is that, i was wondering whether to get a 780ti, will probably just wait till the 8xx series now anyways
