Battlefield 1 PC Performance Review

It just goes to show it's not the visual that break a game

More evidence that a game can look groundbreaking without being gpu breaking.

Developers take note.

Nice review Mark and interesting to hear that it's better than BF4's launch, but would you say it's better than BF4's current state?

There are reports of hugely excessive CPU load bugs... (Only in MP matches)
Like 90-100% CPU usage (Dropping GPU usages) on Beast Rigs, no matter what settings used...

CPU testings need to be done before I buy it...

"PC gamers will have to turn down their in-game settings to achieve a steady 60FPS" (4k). Wouldn't it make more sense to just drop your resolution to, say, 3712 or 3584 until you hit 60fps?

I wouldn't consider it a beastly rig but i'm having this issue with an 8350 paired with a gtx 1070. i see a similar trend in other games though, so where the bottle neck ends and where the optimization begins I can't be sure. but my fps dips to 30ish sometimes and seeing all these benchmarks is just making me anxious to upgrade my cpu.

I'll have a look at my cpu & gpu usage this evening. Had a good session yesterday and I did not have any issues whatsoever, the game looks really amazing!

@Excalabur, it is far better than the BF4 release, no rubber banding in online matches, hitreg seems to be on point too. Is it better than BF4 in its current state? Graphics wise, yes absolutely. Gameplay wise as well I'd say, the combat is really brutal, hearing the screams of people being set on fire or rushing in with a bayonet charge, people being brutally slaughtered in melee combat, it sends chills down your spine

Weird... I get the FPS warning icon pretty much permanently with my Asus 1070 OC and a 4770K on 1080p on Ultra@DX12... The game sets itself automatically to Ultra and runs smoothly though, just with some minor drops here and there. Sometimes it becomes unplayable though. So the icon basically makes no sense as the game is running at over 60FPS from what I can tell... Will try to capture the FPS... Is BF1 really so CPU dependant that my 4770K is bottlenecking?! Also, after the recent patch, it feels like the performance has gotten worse on my system. I'm using the newest driver.

What's more annoying is the mouse, it's so spongy and not even remotely as precise as in CoD. Had to fiddle around in the config and watch some youtube videos about BF4 to fix this, but that's a different topic.

1) turn OFF DX12
2) turn ON the GPU memory limit thing.

I've read that turning DX12 ON can INcrease performance, but I'll try it, thx! The GPU memory limit is set to ON by default.

On Nvidia cards we are currently seeing better performance on DX11. I believe there was an article on here a lil while ago comparing DX11 vs 12 on various cards
