I took delivery of my shiny new Mach2 unit (cudnt afford a GT tho now after seeing phils temps at his extreme overclosk i wish i had of wiated :P)

Anyway i have a 3ghz SL6WK that i was using for this overclock, an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard and a pari of Geil PC 3500 Platinum Ultra sticks of ram.

The Lowdown:

Ok i did just about everything that can go wrong, wrong last night, ask phil he was the one on MSN helping me :D

After about 3 hours i managed to get the mach2 to boot my PC (im not going to go into why I couldnt before, its embarassing)

I booted right up at -35-40deg C.

I decided to go straight to 3.8ghz (knowing my PC wud crash at this before) CPU on idle was about -30, i loaded prime95 and after about a minute my PC crashed. I knocked the clock down to 3.725Ghz and my PC seems to be stablish (from the 15-20 mins i waited) but my CPU temp shot right up to 20c a raise of around 50degC so im thinking maybe i dont have an excellent contact (will look at this tonight) I still think my CPU is naff tho, so am gonna sort something out about a different one :)

I will post pictures when i get home :D

pls tell

aXeR - honest, it would be useful to the rest of the forum to post what went wrong else one day Phil will throw a wobbler! You could possibly win a tic-tac for your confessions!

Ok, well i did a few things wrong:

1.) I forgot to put on the +5v line so i got the error "NO SHUT DOWN"

2.) I cabled upthe computer "reset" switch to the prommie as aposed to the "pwr" switch

3.) I cabled the yellow wire going from the prommie which is supposed to go to the pwr button pins on the mobo header to the reset switch instead

4.) I cabled the Prommie to PC power jumper the wrong way around

5.) On numerous ocasions I forgot to turn the PC PSU on :P

Funny thing is, this all happened at different times, did'nt all happen at once so it took seriously a good 3 hours to actually manage to do it correctly, poor phil must of been doing hit nut :P

Anyway im oficialy EP's own n00b :D

Ok this is where I am at at the moment, bwr has suggested a few things to try wen i get home due to high temps wen on load:

LMAO,,

that bloke has the patience of a saint !

I would have mysteriously lost my msn connection after about 30 minutes..

lol, good to see you making 'im work for the money m8 ;) & glad you got sorted.

exactly the same problem as wen i cabled the power and reset cable the wrong way around, the mach unit boots up ok, but after it reached -35 the PC wudnt boot up and the mach2 unit goes on standby :P

aXeR Thanx for yr honesty! They all sound very easy to do, especially when you've been at work all day and are rushing trying to get going!

to begin with wen following the instructions i was taking it nice and slow making sure i didnt miss anything out (btw imo i think the instructions are so badly wiriten, the wording is terrible :P) and we it gets to the cable section it just syas "now ure ready to wire it in and fire it up" - WTF! lol but yeah i was tired from work and eager :P plus i just had some bad news of some1 buying something off of me via paypal with fraudalent funds :(

Im so happy today, ive got all my Mach2 up and running properly, got my CPU running at 3.9Ghz with 1.8V going into it, it fluxuates like a ***** when running prime 95 which cuases it to rbeoot after a while, a droop shud fix this which means id be able to lower the voltage too.

Unfortunately it seems my CPU aint up to running much past 260 FSB as i cant get to 266 which is 4Ghz so im gonna prolly be selling this chipp soon :D

@ 3.9Ghz with 1.8 going thru it my Mach2 is idling at -52C, my CPU is at -39C and on load it averages about -18, MUCH better than yesterday :D my Mach2 is getting friendly now :D

and the display says "aXeR OwnZ U"

Extreme Prometia r0x j00 s0x :D
