This guide will convert your Creative Audigy series into Audigy 4 version only in softmod , which means whatever your sound card can do this guide or installation will enable it or make use out of it. The software and drivers in these packages makes sound louder and much better then original drivers. If you have experienced problems with original creative drivers as well as other creative programs this makes installing your card hassle free.

Supported sound card:

SB Audigy (not include SB Audigy LS)

SB Audigy2 (include SB Audigy2 value)

SB Audigy2 ZS series (not include Gateway OEM)

SB Audigy2 ZS Notebook

SB X-Fi series

Few other cards might work , please keep in mind if your card is not retail version it might not work properly so you might have to install your original drivers if this guide doesnt work for you.

Programs you ll need :

Youp-Pax Fi v2.32 Driver and Software Pack - Free / Check end of Post

Youp-Pax Fi v2.33 Driver pack - Free / Check end of Post

Driver Cleaner Pro - Free Click Here Homepage : Click Here

Whats the difference between these drivers and creative drivers?

Well these drivers and programs are hassle free. You might had a successful installation with your audigy card but overall Audigy cards or infact most Creative cards are painfull and time consuming when installing drivers and their companion softwares.

You get all kinds of errors from not finding your audio card to newly installed audio programs ( Creative EAX console etc ) giving runtime errors etc.

If you also have early Audigy cards you might not have all the features enabled in normal installation. With recent updates to MediaSource etc early cards loose functionality due too many errors so i guess Creative just disables them to have less faulty cards or less customer complaints , who knows.

With these drivers you get better sound quality.

Note 1 : At anytime when you come across windows new hardware found wizard please cancel it as we will not install drivers that way. So i ll be skipping those in the following steps. If you dont get the new hardware found wizard then you havent cleaned up your system properly please redo cleaning steps.

Steps to follow.

1 - ) Uninstall all your creative programs related to your sound card

2 - ) Delete Creative folder in Program Files

C:\Program Files\Creative

3 - ) Clean your temporary folders;

C:\Documents Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp

C:\Windows\Temp

4 - ) Goto Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Sound video game controllers > Right click on your Audigy sound card and choose uninstall , you might need to restart your pc after this.

5 - ) Install and Run Driver Cleaner Pro

5a - From Cleaning Selection Select only "Creative Audio"

5b - Click on Start and wait till it finishes the cleaning.

5c - Close the program and restart your pc.

Now our system is clean of any creative drivers and files we can go ahead with the installation.

6 - ) Unpack "Youp-Pax Fi v2.32 Driver Software Pack" if you havent done so and double click on "YouP-PAX-Fiv2.32.2006.SP2.exe"

6a - At first screen select english installation , click next to continue

6b - Choose uninstall softwares and drivers in the system and clean registry. This will make sure nothing is left over. Click next to continue.

6c - If you agree to authors terms then continue until "Select program features"

6d - In this section it is totally upto you which programs to go for , i have installed all of them and all of them works fine alltogether, there is no conflicts or errors. There are few items starts up when windows starts but thats easy to fix just need to disable the item at windows startup.

6e - Following screens will install whichever features you selected on step 6d. From now on just click on next or continue. When all features are installed you will be asked to reboot your computer. Next step will be driver installation.

7 - If you have also downloaded "Youp-Pax Fi v2.33 Driver pack" you can skip "Youp-Pax Fi v2.32 Driver " installation and just install v2.33 or you can go ahead with the v2.32 installation to make sure everything works fine.

7a - Installing v2.32 , just continue as author pretty much explained most stuff. Once finished installing drivers restart your system and enjoy your new audio card.

7b - Installing v2.33, if you are happy with the results of v2.32 stay with it. As few early cards might give you problems with v2.33 but then again uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling other version takes only few minutes. v2.33 includes bug fixes and has new patched drivers so overall quality and performance is better. Unpack "Youp-Pax Fi v2.33 Driver pack" and double click on "YouP-PAX-Fiv2.33drv.exe" choose English language and continue , you will have 2 options 1 to install v2.33 and other to uninstall , choosing uninstall option will actually also uninstall v2.32 drivers you installed in previous steps so choose uninstall to uninstall v2.32 , you will need to restart your pc and re-run this step to install v2.33.

If you havent installed v2.32 drivers choose install v2.33 , continue and when finished restart your system and enjoy the sound.

Note 2 : While installing drivers you will be asked if you want to have X-Fi demo startup with windows. What it does is, it opens up a folder with X-Fi video demo file which demonstrates X-Fi sound cards.

Note 3 : If you run into PLXcore.plx error when running the demo application in X-Fi folder please check C:\Program Files\Creative\SharedFiles\ folder for above named file. If its not there dont worry as its a mystery error and doesnt actually effect your audio experience nor your system.

Note 4 : While installing drivers you can select which mode to install the drivers. I have tried all 3 versions and Game/DVD mode gives the best performance, specially in games its unbelievable you can hear everyone (CS - CSS ).

Just for info , it looks like a lot of steps to follow but it only takes about 5 / 10 minutes or maybe less but after all i am sure you will be pleased with the results.

Wish they had ones that wld work on my Live! 24-Bit 7.1 card, tho. :(

Nick

Well looks like your wish came true.

I ve tried this method on 2 SB Live 5.1 cards and all works fine with all the new softwares :)

You need to install "Youp-Pax Fi v2.32 Driver and Software Pack" and skip v2.32 driver installation and download drivers from below

If this doesnt work Download this Audigy 4 Installation Cd , follow the steps to uninstall old programs and drivers then install audigy 4 softwares only and install drivers from above. Steps to follow is always clean old drivers > install softwares > then install drivers.

Thread regarding SB Live Series Patched drivers.

http://www.youp-pax.org:8005/viewthread.php?tid=22&extra=page=1

One of the systems reported SB Live 5.1 as SB Audigy only and forgot to check the other system.

raging-savage - tbh if your happy with your sound setup you can skip this , but overall sound quality is awesome. So you can try it and see if its better if not you can go back to your previous setup.

well my card is a sound blaster audigy 4 already so ime not sure if it would improve the sound but i guess i could give it a try

so i just follow those instructions you posted for nick ya?

edit; it looks like i might have the same problem as nick i just checked the box and it says 24bit and 5.1,6.1,7.1:sleep:

cheers.

I've got an Audigy 2 ZS somewhere, dont know where I put it though. Dunno if it works or not (Windows wouldn't detect it last time I used it, but that was on a dodgy mobo). I'll try it when I find my card.

1 - Usually happens to me too , but its often when card is not fitted properly , taking out the card putting it back in should solve the issue as long as its working or you can take the card out , restart windows without it , turn the pc off , put the card back in , restart windows.

2- Sometimes on some of the cases the pci plate on the case doesnt line up properly with motherboards pci slots so make sure the card is not bend while trying to secure it to the case.

3- Dont over tighten the screw too much as sometimes that could bend the plate on the card, worth considering.

i have this and tried the above but it wouldnt recognize the card any ideas

Is your card working fine with creative drivers and if it does which version do you use?

no improvement its makes my hifi not send out any sound so it must be the drivers interfering with the soundcard.

if you have a sb 4 dont install it.

edit;i have managed to fix my problem, but still these drivers dont do anything for sblaster 4 cards so dont bother with it.

cheers.

Just did a little search and it seems Audigy SE has different device ID (SB0570) which is probably not listed on above drivers inf files so when installing the driver it doesnt match up your sound cards device ID.

Tough all the inputs and ports looks similar so i assume drivers needs to be edited with hex editors to recognise the device id but it takes a lot of time to edit them and i dont think its worth the efforts.

Btw which packages (programs) did you get with Audigy SE ?.

ummm i got WMP 10, media source and the usual EAX console, equalizer recorder.... not much but it was sold in a pretty antistatic bag so i didnt expect much :D thanks for your help Tec

The reason i have asked was patched programs which i posted in the main post includes below programs , so even if driver didnt picked your card up as the programs are patched and they have no card detection they might work for you if you dont usually have them in your usual creative installation.
