AU Optronics is set to start shipping 8K in 1H 2018

I can see 1080 being able to run CS:GO and Overwatch at 4K 144Hz, and those cover significant portion of high refresh rate gamers. :P

You need hardware that can run 4K 144Hz first. I don't know any that can do it at the moment.

I've noticed over the last few years since 144Hz became a thing, GPU manufacturers would push the envelope more and more, Once 1440P 144Hz became a thing the need for GPU power went up quite a bit so I do think based on my observations that when we get more demanding monitor tech we will get higher powered GPU's so it's a win/win situation.

I still don't think it will happen in the near future. 4K panels are very expensive. 4K 144Hz panels will be even more coins. So it won't be massively adopted. And the benefits over 1440p aren't that great. Where i see the future going is more towards ultra wide gaming. That one has more immersive experience, and isn't that hard, or expensive to achieve.

I like Ultrawide but the panels need 1 little adjustment after having used 1, They need to be taller, they feel vertically squished down when compared to a 16:9 monitor.

So what you are saying that you want an Ultra Wide monitor to not be quite as wide?

So you want an intermediate aspect ratio like 19:9 or 21:10?

That is an interesting observation. :D Well it is your personal feeling, and experience. I don't think it classifies as viable downside. Probably it would take a little more time for you to get used to it.

21:10 could fix it, Would still be Ultrawide but a tad taller, As I said to me it feels squished compared to a 16:9 monitor.

I had the 34" Asus 100Hz G-sync monitor but compared to my 27" 1440P the screen was vertically smaller and to me it looked too squished down.

Looking at dimensions for them there is barely a 1inch difference. I don't see that as a big issue. You could just as easily lower your seat or raise the monitor and be more centered. That's just my opinion
