Ati x1600XT v Nvidia 6600

Ive got the chance to upgrade nice and cheaply. What would the people here say the better of the 2 cards are?

x1600xt will give better performance but you will have to put up with the ATI drivers

I mainly use the rig that its going into for things like Photoshop and dreamweavery type stuff.

if it wont be used for gaming just get the cheaper of the two. theyre both fine for that sort of thing

I currently have both cards (kind of...) i've got my x1600 in the macbook pro and I have an evga 6600gt in my dell. The x1600 is far superior t the 6600gt imo, it benches higher in everything and handles aa much more fluidly. Not to mention the picture is sharper with the x1600. It definately gets my vote!

yea a x1600 pro comes out about the same as a slightly overclocked plain 6800 so the XT will be slightly higher again but all depends on whether its worth price difference for what you want it for
