Rumours abound of a takeover of one of the two major graphics chip producers, the Canadian National Port reports.
It seems there has been a little run on heir shares and this has sparked rumours that there is interest from wither of these big three:
Intel, AMD or Texas Instruments.
The takeover wouldn't really make sense by AMD or Intel.
Both comapnies use Nvidia chips and indeed would NF4 chipsets be made for AMD if they owned AMD's partner? Hmm....maybe not methinks.
So that leaves Texas Instruments and to be honest I think ATI are doing well enough (even with the R520 doing a dissapearing act) to keep themselves going.
But rumours usually have a foundation IMO, so maybe a bid is being prepared.
Anyway, I would prefer ATI to stay ATI as its good for the competition.
