I'm glad that PCI express 2.0 is backwards-compatible. It bothers me when new bus technologies for expensive things like graphics cards come out and are forced on to us, even if the current products aren't saturating the bus. Then when you buy a new motherboard, you can buy a new one and have to also buy a new card, or buy an old outdated one which isn't much better than your current one. If PCI-E 2.0 was a whole new slot I would be upset, because we'd all have to buy new cards when we upgrade, even those people with brand new 8800 Ultras. On top of that, many current PCI-E cards don't even saturate the x8 bus.
