i would like to ask 2 things 1 can it be fixed to my eyes it dose not look so bad but i dont know thats why im here :D

2 if it cant be fixed dose anyone know if the pins thats bent are important i cant test it yet as im waiting for my i7 4790k to come in the post thanks for looking

Right, my first thoughts are contact the seller and have him over a barrel for false information as it is clearly damaged then hit up Paypal and look at raising a dispute.

If that is not what you want to do, then you could attempt the repair yourself "very" and I mean VERY carefully with a magnifying glass and tiny tweezers (watch makers stuff) tease the pins back into position taking all the care in the world to avoid surrounding pins, once you have those in place gently depress them (almost feather like pressure) to ensure they won't move sideways when the CPU is sat on top. The pins should spring up and down with a very light touch.

The trick is to tease the pins straight again, they are incredibly fragile so slowly slowly is key.

As for running a CPU with missing socket pins, I would not recommend it.

i tried to contact the seller he said i must have done it my self it was fine when he sent it as its second hand its going to be hard to prove i have left him bad feed back not sure if i will take it up with ebay i cant be bothered with all the waiting and sending it back i do have a good eye tho and i will give it ago thanks for the reply

No problem, and best of luck.

Ebay will almost always side with the buyer, and will usually have the seller pick up the tab for posting it back.

last resort is to fix it yourself.

I would suggest (and I have fixed a few myself) is to follow the advice of Wraith, but not to use tweezers. Use a modelling knife or scalpel and gentle coerce the pins back slowly. With a modelling knifes tip it is so fine and delicate you have better precision even with shaky hands. And its less likely to use too much force.

It is repairable, but i would still contact paypal or ebay and complain.

i did reply but not sure why it has not came up i jumped right in with a very small pin

dose that look better? i did not try and bend it i flicked it if that makes sense

Impressive job there waynelovell, almost perfect, the proof will be in the pudding so they say, roll on your i7 arriving soon.

Please keep us posted with your progress.

EDIT: Your post didn't show immediately due to you being new to the forums so your image link needed to be approved first.

thanks i just hope it works its the frist time i upgraded my cpu and board for years i have had my 8350 since 2013 i think
No problem, I also have an Asus Z97 and 4790K you won't be disappointed it's a powerhouse CPU, even more so once overclocked.

Also just FAI PayPal reimburses shipping for up to 8 returns per year capped at 45$ per return.

This is nice especially how PayPal doesn't care whether or not your cases are justified and just keeps ruling in your favor if possible until there a like 5 or 6 cases in the year. Then they send you a threat letter :D

Never know if eBay will do the same.

Only thing left now is to make sure that when you compress the pins e.g. when CPU is on top that the pins will bend downwards and not off to some odd angle.

Also, judging by the location of the bent pins, if you find only your memory slot A are working and B slots arent, the culprit are those pins. So you need to tease them more so contact is correct on the CPU.

hi guys a update the motherboard works fine im overclocked to 4.6 with 1.230 volts i will see if i can get 4.7 on the same volts and thanks so much for your help

Thats great news, I would however reconmend you keep an eye on it even after you.verify stability etc.

Ive used a mitherboard with bent pins before. fixed it up and worked fine, passed stress tests but experienced problems when put to use in some real world situations. It could possibly damage it in the long term too, but by then it would probably be getting replaced :D

im going to keep it at 4.6 for now i need a big jump in volts for 4.7 i will download some games later and test it with that to as it stands its all good :D

the perils fo buying on ebay its a shame when sellers are gits. well done on fixing it though. I would love to go i7 route but sadly way out of my reach so stuck with AMD

Well eBay and PayPal do offe rprotection services free of charge to aid buyers who experience this kind of peril. So its not like its a bad idea to ourchase of eBay.
