ASUS have really separated their various iterations of the Maximus VIII into distinct types, and we have two takes upon the Maximus VIII Extreme to review today.
ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme and Extreme Assembly Review
What a stunning board. Are you watching MSI?
MSI don't care about making nice looking Motherboards
IMO all they care about is making stupid looking Motherboards "Cough Godlike Cough"
The thing is though from a modders perspective oem aesthetics are meaningless, when people look past that the hardware is the important part and the godlike has really great specs if were honest, ok it's no perfect 10 but that's not a major prob and it's easily fixed.
Asus do tend to hit the nail on the head when it comes to boards people want, the Maximus is no exception they are gorgeous boards.
Actually it's two 4 pin connection for maximum overclocking. Is it just me or does it look like an 24 pin, where normally an 4 pin or 8 pin power cables goes to the CPU?... (Yes, I've totally brainfarted right now, so completely messed up how to explain this...)
@Slider - Another "Svenne" in here then!![]()

I personally have an Asus X99 motherboard in my own rig, however i wouldn't say MSi boards were ugly or "stupid looking".
If I were building a Skylake build I would certainly consider the MSi Z170A Gaming M7:

Well i'm not really a fan of Red/Black motherboards anymore i had one and when it comes time to change this i'm going with a Black/Grey motherboard.
Looks like everyone makes 1 red build and then want enything but redi love that new orange asus has
i wish they made orange impact itx

Wow, that red MSI mobo is a total monstrosity. At least the old RoG didn't use a horribly glossy red like that.
