Asus Xonar Essence STX vs Phoebus

I found the Asus Xonar Essence STX online for $100 used on kijiji should I grab it? Or should I spend $100 more and go with a Phoebus which I'm only considering purely for aesthetic purposes that Tiger would just look odd in my red / black / white scheme. Also for 7.1 which of the two is better? I've been hearing the Phoebus is the better of the two when it comes to 7.1 so would make me feel a bit better about the extra $100 + tax so like $130 more :(

Actually now that I'm thinking about it I have 1 PCI E x1 sitting above the graphics card therefore that tiger should be hidden with the graphics card in its path.

The STX is so much better. Get that.

You don't really see the Lion or whatever when it's face down in the system...?
You'll only see the gold Asus logo on the top if you have a lot of light in your case.

I'm looking at Sennheiser's atm what's the difference in quality between

HD 439 HD 558 HD 595 HD 555

There selling for 90, 150, 180, 100 in order of above

Is it a noticeable difference? I'll be using these just for pure quality purposes I have my gaming headset lying about which sound good for what there for but now I need my Music / Video.

They're alright, possibly a little overpriced though.
They'll all be a lot better than your headset.

The 439s have a low impedance meaning you can use them on portable devices too. But, they probably sacrifice a little quality compared to the others.
The rest are only 50Ohm impedance, so they aren't particularly high either.

If you can afford them, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros (80/250Ohm) will be the best headphones you find for the price.
Sennheisers tend to be a little overpriced, but they'll still sound great with the Essence.

Looking at the Sennheisers, they do look a little heavy so you may want to bear that in mind.

If you do want the best quality, Beyerdynamic will probably be better.

Yep quality is what I'm shooting for the media EQ on my a50's use the bass technique sooo much audio is missing but like I mentioned above for 7.1 no complaints.

I was watching Seven Psychopaths with these on last night and there was a random car explosion wowww scared the crap out of me they sound incredibly nice can't imagine how much more immense they can sound when I have the Xonar hooked up.

Oh you're using them without a soundcard?

I thought you already had the STX...

It makes them a hundred times better...you're in for a surprise :)

I see I'm a little late to the thread but I went with the phoebus when it was on offer at the same price as the STX.

The STX gives better sound than the phoebus but it's not something I would notice tbh. I don't use 7.1 so I would've probably been better off with the STX.

I was actually in the market for the xonar xense when I spotted the offer.
