Friend of mine has this, Good monitor although at 32" the pixel density is a bit lacking to be honest, Anything bigger than 27" needs to be 4K, If you want 1440P then go for a 27".

I used a website to compare PPI
1920*1080 @ 24" = 92 PPI
2560*1440 @ 32" = 92 PPI
So I assumed that @ 32" 2560*1440 I would have everything the same as on my current screens but just more real estate.
Or am I doing this wrong?

Don't trust 1ms for anything except TN. Yes the monitor can do it but image quality is terrible. And don't trust anything manufacturers list as specs. Hardware Unboxed has amazing monitor reviews and recommendations. Tftcentral is another great place to find proper data.
Edit: My recommendation:
LG 27GL850 If you want IPS. This is straight up the best deal you can have. Watch some reviews and you will see.
LG 32GK650F if you want a VA panel.

OK - some more details.
I have a 980Ti at the moment - but am planning to upgrade this year to something else
CPU is a i7-6900K which is possibly not fast enough for the topend GPU's - but its easy enough to upgrade at some point (M/B, RAM and CPU probably)
I am not into competitive FPS gaming. Mostly I play fallout, Mass Effect, Oblivion / Skyrim, Outer Worlds, Cyberpunk (Eventually) and other similar stuff
I have 3 screens at the moment, all about 15 years old. 2ms TN 1080p panels
I do not do colour work and don't give a damn about what the screen looks like at an angle.
Word, Excel - standard office apps that will all appreciate more real estate
VLC to watch video, when I can't be bothered to go downstairs and watch on the proper TV. Mostly HD with a bit of 4K trans-coded to HD
I only want to upgrade the single main screen to either 2K or 4K, and continue to run the remaining at 1080.
To make things more difficult I have another PC that uses the same monitor - but thats only capable of 1080 which I understand looks less good on a 1440p monitor. This PC however is a retro PC used exclusively for gaming (and Windows 7 / XP)
I can see 4K as being the right way to go. It scales to 1080 correctly but needs a serious GPU to run at 4K, but not at 1K. I buy a monitor to last a long time unlike the PC. HDR I think will be important, but isn't yet.
I still can't find a monitor that ticks all the boxes and costs less than 1K
