Asus Strix Introduction

Remove the stickers from the GPU and it looks great. I like the 0db feature, i'd just underclock the card and hope it won't spin up past 10%.

I like the looks of the DCUII more but the features of the Strix are definetly better.

Those headphones on the other hand are butt ugly, good god

I think it's on the same level just a different design/logo :)

It would also be interesting to see how that headset measures up to something from Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic :)

Surely the cards cant be on the same level... I think that they are meant to be slightly lower end, more affordable cards. I don't know about the headsets though.

Well all the mosfets etc...used will be on the same level, This card just wont have features like the memory defroster, ROG LED and ROG designed shroud, Apart from those things they are pretty identical in features and quality.

Awesome write up James. Can't wait for the EVGA offering to see some form of direct comparison. Over all I like the clean-ish look of this card not quite as simplistic as the perfect Club3D styling... but hell it's ASUS.

I was only disappointed the heatsink inside wasnt black like the ROG Matrix's

I'm curious about something and I would like to hear from anyone who has experience on this matter. When OCing Vram, is it similar to OCing a CPU and memory? Take for instance, the higher the CPU clocks go up, generally means your going to be a bit limited with OCing the memory, especially with all slots populated and high density sticks. Does this work the same way with video cards? I'm just wondering if just because this 780 has 6gb of Vram would, on average, not be able to hit some of the higher memory clocks as the 3gb version.

Wrong please for that mate. Start a thread.

I like the owl face design on the 780s cooler. Just a shame in most rigs you don't get to see the moneyshot as it's facing down.
Also - is Strix pronounced like in 'asterix' or as in 'Strikes'?
cheers

It's pronounced as like the word tricks, but with an "s" in front. Basically, Stricks is how you say it. If that's confusing, just watch the video.

Same thoughts here as most, I like the GPU but I'm not so sure about the headset. Great idea if your a fan of owls? :surprised2: I'd like to hear the headset though, if the performance was that good and the price was right then the physical design wouldn't deter me from buying it.
