ASUS ROG Strix Gaming RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Preview

Pretty, Just checked the price on OCUK, £1500 for the 2080 Ti version, £1500 !

I'd expect dinner and a night of romance for that ^_^

A night! Christ you go for the top end :P

Whats scary is the price difference between the top end and the bottom end. A Palit gaming pro is £400 cheaper! yes that's right its a whole 1070 cheaper! Mental.

Step away from the rog card Dice we know your attracted :) but seriously the asus tax is really starting to bite on a 2080ti and even though i'm afflicted by the asus bug too i actually prefer the msi version :(

The prices on this gen of graphics cards is obsurd its absolute insanity and the problem is people keep paying so Nvidia keep taking the biscuit. It's a real kick in the teeth for the majority of people who were waiting for this gen of cards but don't have an unlimited supply if money :(

It's a LOT more than 30%.

To put it into perspective, Here's some numbers comparing the 980 Ti to a 1080 Ti, 1 x 1080 Ti is anywhere from around 50% faster to 90% faster than 1 x 980 Ti in various titles.

Ultra settings 1440P -

AC:Origins 1080 Ti is 69% faster than a 980 Ti.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1080 Ti is 84% faster than a 980 Ti.
Sniper Elite 4 1080 Ti is 78% faster than a 980 Ti.
Strange Brigade 1080 Ti is 86% faster than a 980 Ti.
Wolfenstein II 1080 Ti is 91% faster than a 980 Ti.
Gears of War 4 1080 Ti is 68% faster than a 980 Ti.
Battlefield 1 1080 Ti is 56% faster than a 980 Ti.
Far Cry 5 1080 Ti is 79% faster than a 980 Ti.
Rainbow Six Siege 1080 Ti is 72% faster than a 980 Ti.

I understand his thinking but you're right its more than 30%

If you think that 980Ti sli was "slightly" better than a 1080ti single. And then think the gain of a 2080ti over 1080ti is miniscule, it does seem like 980ti sli is not so much a performance hit. But When you analyse it, some games are indeed extremely high gains. You need to think from his pov where he has 2 cards, not 1. And then consider scaling across a selection of games.

I jumped from 980ti sli to single 1080ti and almost felt like dropping back sometimes, but eventually went for another 1080ti. I'm happily skipping the next few RTX generations. When my cards suffer then ill quit pc gaming :D Costs are atrocious now.
