Meet the small yet powerful Maximus VIII Gene from ASUS. Is this mATX at it's best?

have they lowered the price of the ROG series because normally they are out of my price range and I like this 1

I think the µATX ones have always been a little cheaper. In fact I think the Ivy Bridge one cost €120 at the time making this one slightly expensive even? Although that may have been some time after the release.

I just remember when I got my current MB I looked at these and they cost a lot more than this 1, though obviously that was few years back

I like all 3 toms put up not much red but I have been wanting to go smaller matx route

Greenback it seems we have exactly the same kinda system in mind for our next PCs :P

I'm also looking to put together a nice MATX build for my next build ideally with an RoG Gene or similar. Having just built my family one I just love the form factor. Potentially gonna house it in an enthoo Evolv or something similar as I love the all Alu build

yep looked at that case and the node 804, but it comes down to, for a gaming rig would you see a big enough improvement for the £500-£600 needed to upgrade cpu, mb and ram, for that money you could just get a new 980ti or fury nearly even 2 980's or 390x's which obviously would be a big boost

Do we have a result on the red paint removal at all yet? I'm slapping one of these in an emerald green water build and although I could get away with it, the red just isn't welcome around here.

Price wise, this isn't much more dear than the previous counterparts Asus released as I had the V and VI, both were around £150 new upon release...

Though, I don't know what it is, not quite fond of the aesthetics this time around, though the features are there as always!
