ASUS reveals ROG Strix XG49VQ Double-Wide 144Hz FreeSync 2 HDR monitor

Really liking the clean and sleek dark design of their monitors now a days. With that small, discrete, yet premium looking ROG logo in the front. Really finding the right balance between being ”gamerish” looking, meanwhile also looking both mature and professional.

On the other side though, I’ve never really liked that stand on their latest monitors though. In my opinion, it completely destroys the overall look of the monitor and actually makes me not go for one. The more non gamerish stand, which the PG278Q/QR and PG279Q uses, are much nicer.

When I grow up... I might have one of these... Especially since you can use FreeSync with an nVidia GPU when you're using an AMD CPU :p

AMD APU ;)

You really want 3840x1080p? I'd much rather have 3440x1440p. I just bought an Alienware AW3418DW monitor. In any case I'm sticking with Dell in the foreseeable future since the 3 year onsite service = win.

I would like it simply for the huge near surround experience, I already have a few monitors, 24" 1440P, 27"1440P, 32" 4K and 35" Ultrawide 1440P, Obviously not all setup but I like to have choice ^_^

When you do get this, would you consider giving the other way charitably? ;):D

I actually have 4 x different monitors that I use for different things, This one IF I get it will just be added to the collection.

If I had a desk long enough I'd hook them all up for different use cases ^_^

49" at 32:9 is equivalent to two 27" 16:9 monitors side by side, both have a height of 13.3".

Yeah I tried this a few weeks ago and it was not for me. Mostly due to space but it was a little too much.

Be interesting to see how many games will support this aspect ratio. never owned a super wide, did we get past the issues with 21:9? Though this would be great for all the work I do with excel, shame its not 1440 though, those 400(ish) pixels make a real difference to my spreadsheets
