ASUS reportedly plans to increase their UK Pricing by 9%

lmao April 1st you didn't get me... Oh, wait.

lmaox2 still the best joke I've seen in ages. Like Asus Tax (TM) wasn't enough already. And what do we get for it? their legendary pretend customer service that doesn't actually exist.

During times like this the problem is created when people stop buying, not continue it. The last time the UK was in recession was around 2009 and it was because loads of stores were closing down due to people closing their wallets.

Things were very cheap then for a while. I guess it was to encourage people to spend. Upping the price will definitely not help in a situation like this. People are worried, so they are hanging onto their cash. You need to tempt them, not chase them away with a stick covered in dog poo.

I won't go into all of the details about how and why but within a couple of years we could see pretty much every one dropping out of the mobo market apart from Gigabyte and Asus. As I said, boring details and information from a mate of mine in Taiwan but he's usually right. The only thing he's got ever so slightly wrong was that the 1060 wouldn't be in stock anywhere for ages. However, he could still be on the money as we could have just seen a few "token" 1060s before the wait begins like it did with the 1070 and 1080. You can also expect the prices to rise. It's a clever strategy.

Any way, doesn't bother me none I just simply won't buy anything if they are taking the urine.

The business is just reacting to market forces (or using it as an excuse). However, once things settle and return to a sort of norm, I'll bet these companies won't reduce their prices so quick.

10% price increase?! What the actuall heck! Are they THAT afraid that the Brexit will shoot down the pound? The UK wasn't even in the EUzone so the new currency would be that unstable.

This is an excuse on Asus side to make money

Even when the currency goes down a fraction, e.g. 1.32GBP to the dollar drops to 1.29.. that basically wipes off millions of dollars in shares. Its the greedy shareholders of ASUS wanting to maintain their dividends or increase them for that matter that is the reason for this price increase

It's not surprising. The pound has went from $1.49 to $1.31 since the Brexit vote. Calculations in my head say that's around a 12% drop.

That might not be much of an issue if you are going on holiday to the US. I'm sure it's a different matter if you are a company that deals in the millions of dollars.

My work exports to America so our stuff is cheaper for them. Anything coming in from the US that's been priced based in US dollars is going to cost more here.

It's simple economics.

Thanks Brexiters!
