Xonar D2 and D2K are sound cards built around the inhouse made audio chip: ASUS AV200 HD Audio Processing unit. The cards have 7.1 outputs, digital in and out and it's supporting Dolby and DTS standards.

Asus claims that the card is capable doing more that 120 dB signal to noise ratio and it is a direct competitor of Creative's X-Fi range of products.

I smell a massive pile of hardware on all our desks and no time to do them in ;)

*cough* send some to me*cough*:p

wonder if this thing will be any good though...

Raging.

Since its made from another comapny can it do EAX? Almost all your games that have any kinda sound quality use EAX and a soundcard today without it is almost useless.

they(non creative labs) can usually do EAX but a limited revision of such (eg EAX 2)

But if they want this to be a competitor to the X-FI shouldnt they be able to do more? I would like buy rights or w/e you do to be able to use the name and tech so they have a decent competition. Just my 0.02.
