Asus Or Gigabyte

Ok peeps if it were your money which of these two would you buy and why? Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 or Asus Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 as it seems I might be able to get one of these boards with a 2700K, Any answers will be much appreciated.

I'm a sucker for Asus's UEFI, so I would go with the MIVE, but if you need slots for expansion the gigabyte would be the way to go. Both boards look awesome.

Both are just as good as each other in my opinion. Some people say that Asus's RMA service isn't very good and that Gigabyte's is better, but I have heard just as many people moan about Gigabyte as I have with Asus, so i'm not sure about that one.

I have had boards from both in the past and never had problems with either (apart from my P8P67 dieing) if you go with Gigabyte though, I would get wait and get one of their Z77 boards because they will all have a UEFI BIOS instead of the normal legacy one.

If it has to be between the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 or Asus Maximus IV GENE-Z though i'd go with the UD5 because it's full ATX, all black and in my oppinion looks better than the Maximus.

Thanks for the replies

Same as SieB.

ASUS is always my first choice. It maybe fanboyism but I just love ASUS. Their quality is outstanding and performance is usually above the rest. Is there no chance of selecting a different ASUS board with the full ATX form factor?

If not the the Gigabyte will still be an amazing board and I am in no way knocking them.

Both ASUS and Gigabyte make outstanding products.

As "maximize" said waiting for Z77 and H77 boards are also options if you can wait that long and have the cash for an Ivy Bridge and a new release board.

Thanks the the replies everyone. I don't have a choice ATM that's why it's just between both boards TBH I would have probably picked the Gigabyte board but it don't hurt to get other opinions. So thanks again for the replies!

Out of the 2 boards above I would say get the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 due to its ATX form factor which will give you better expansion, however if you can find an Asus board that you like, I would look at getting that instead as I love their design, performance and UEFI BIOS. If you can wait however I would see what the new Z77 motherboards have got to offer before buying anything.
