The latest Matrix card from ASUS is upon us, and we see how it performs as a single card and in an SLI configuration.

There always are - 1530 MHz for a 980 is pretty damn strong though and the 'cheaper' versions always feel it.

I agree with the "pay peanuts you get monkeys" part but this is the point I was making.

You can get one of these 980 Matrix Platinums For £599.99

Or you can get one of these 980 EVGA SC For £499.99 + a very good waterblock For £89.99

Both cards have the same clocks near enough on air but with waterblocks on the EVGA ref style cards it is a bit of a game changer.

Having said that though if LN2 is your thing then grab a 980 Matrix Platinum quick.

Having had my mits on various 780(Ti)'s. Reference, DCUii, Windforce, Classy, Lightning and most recently a Matrix Platinum I would concur they are mighty fine cards. Classy's are let down by their packaging and not having a backplate. Lightning packaging has to be the best i've seen for any PC piece of hardware ever and the card feels robust but just a little tacky. The Matrix strikes a phenomenal balance, everything is well finished and they just look and feel spot on. I'm sure Kaap has been around his fair share too ;) I do rate the overall product experience and sense of occasion you get from Lightnings and Matrix's. Now we just need moar lightnings so we can have a proper flagship party.

I owned 3 x HD7970 Matrix Platinums and they were nice cards but you had to be careful with the heat produced when using two in the same PC.

There is one thing that TTL could answer that I am interested in is with the 980 Matrix versions what is the max volts that GPU Tweak will allow.

No idea now matey they are back in the box - have been for a couple days sorry

Long time watcher, first time poster! What's up!! Is there a reason the 295x2 wasn't on the fps charts? It seems like the cards are in the sameish class... don't flame to hard, new to the forums.

Cheers from cali!
