Intrigued by the ASUS Strix peripherals and the latest Maxwell GPUs? Perhaps it's time to combine those two things into a new GPU.....

This was the 970 I ideally wanted but couldn't be arsed waiting for stock so I ordered the MSI instead.

The improvements over the old DCUII are good, I love how this card (as do many of the other 970s) runs passive up to 60*c. People have been getting some good overclocks from these Strix cards as well, 1853mhz is pretty high and I wouldn't be surprised if we see 2000mhz with a custom BIOS in the future.

Damn Guv! Nicely done, what's not to like it's a cracking card, that power draw is staggering, nVidia has nailed it with Maxwell, AMD has some serious work to do to rival this.

I've been waiting for this generation of cards to upgrade from my 2 water cooled 7950s and this looks like the card to go for. Great out of the box performance and decent overclocking too. I think I'll be picking up two of these for cruising through 1440p and I notice that on coolingconfigurator the EK-FC670 GTX DCII GPU block looks like it may well fit...

Dammit! I just bought the GTX760 Striker for my Hero build. I was going to buy a second but now there is the Strix 970 at about the same price. Time to start over and see about getting a 970 or 980 and then a second one (facepalm) !!!!!

Hi guys, I need some serious advice. What should I choose 970 Strix or MSI 970? There are 25£ of difference, 35€ for me. I'm looking to upgrading my rig and I'm not sure if I should spend these 35€ for the Strix or use for example to get a a corsair rm 550 instead of 450 and a 2TB HDD instead of 1TB. What are your thoughts?

Theres a majestic thing called new thread

Received my Strix yesterday and I'm seriously impressed with how quite and cool this GPU is. I haven't tried overclocking yet but that's a missions for this afternoon!

Beast

Ordered mine on launch day from OCUK and I'm not sorry. These are a beast of a card. Managed to get mine to 1400mhz base clock, with boost to 1600, with only a small voltage bump of 1183mV . Could only manage an extra 300mhz from memory to 7300.
As far as temps go, a Unigine Valley run of over 30 minutes and the card never goes over 70.
I can't recommend this card highly enough and at under £300, totally worth it.

Just ordered mine from E-Buyer.com if you are in the market for one of these they only have 5 left in stock so hurry :)

EDIT: got mine today and I must say how much quieter my pc is when I am gaming I also have one very happy nephew who gets my old HD7970 Matrix Platinum :)

Fan noise & VRM temps

Ive received my card yesterday, not happy with it but get to the point.
Fan getting a bit noisy at 1200RPM, at 1400RMP which is not a lot is totally unacceptable - far away from being quiet. It is constant "zzzzzzzz" noise (not a coil whine). Im not sure if it is just my card or all of them got that issue, any chance of checking that? It is happening when the temps are around 72-74 celcius on auto fan settings.
Other thing is an VRM temps. Cant check if the readings are legit (latest AIDA64) but they are around 115 celcius under load! That is a lot!. Every other reading from AIDA matches one from GPU-Z, so it might be accurate.

Excellent review, I'm trying to decide between this card and the Zotac 780TI GHz Edition. Decisions decisions :P

very nice review again mr guv keep up the awesome work don't think any of us can go wrong on either 970s or 980s for power and heat thanks tom
