ASUS GTX1080 Ti Strix OC Graphics Card Review

$1379 AUD here but with those performance figures you'd have to say it's not priced too badly. Besides anyone who's spending that amount of coin on a GPU is probably not that concerned about the $200 premium over the founders. Short of an SLI 1080 setup ($14-1600 AUD here) nothing really comes close.

Come on Vega do your thing I'm sick of waiting...

Question on the temps

Am I just being daft or should the temperature in your temps graph not be 67°c instead of 60°c since that's what GPU-Z recorded as its max on the Overclocking page?
Unless you're recording the out of the box config for the temps graph.

Impressed with how easy it is to get the cooler off compared to the FE.

Don't feel too sorry for Titan owners Tom.:D If you test a Pascal Titan + waterblock you would be impressed.:)

Then you are putting the price of the titan XP to 1600-1700 dollars when you could put a waterblock on the 1080ti for less than the current titan XP and most likely still get better performance???? don't try to justify your outrageous splurge on tech when plain and simple less than a year later there is something that beats/ is on par with it for half the price.

The sad thing is you put waterblocks on both a Titan and 1080 Ti and the Titan is the faster card. If you are going to throw mud around get your facts right.

Apart from the fact I am a Titan owner I am also a 1080 Ti owner so I am neither biased or have anything to justify.

I also find it very poor form that mentioning the fact that a person owns a particular card leaves them open to posts like your one.

The truth of the matter is the Titan owners will get better value for money out of their cards simply because they will have had that level of performance twice as long as 1080 Ti owners before the arrival of Volta.

This. Volta Titan will likely be out eight months before Volta Titanium. That's eight months of high-end gaming. If Volta Titan comes out a year from now, the 1080Ti will have only lasted 12 months before being outsted while Titan XP lasted 20 months. That's part of the premium you are paying for. It's the privileged of having the best before the best is reasonably accessible.

Also, 60°C?! That's insane.

£50 over the FE?

Ill pay that tax

I'm talking about in Australia pricing is a complete rip off.

ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition 11GB $1129
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 Ti OC 11GB $1379

That's a $250 markup over the FE and saying that's not ASUS Tax.

I could understand $100 markup but ASUS is having a laugh and yes there laughing all the way to the bank with their mark-ups cause they know there are people silly to pay that extra money.

I have seen people moaning about UK pricing but IMO you guys get way better pricing then we do.

So would I. Especially because you pretty much have to WC the Founders edition, which even with something like an EVGA AIO would cost you far more to do.

Totally agree. The GTX 1080 Ti FE on the air cooler is quite loud I found. Not fan motor noise but a constant air whooshing sound when gaming. Found it quite annoying.

Still a far cry from the old GTX 480's in SLI I used to own!

Yeah, the only reason I see in buying a FE even with its lower price is if you wanted to SLI on air, install the card in a compact ITX chassis, or have a water loop and want a wider array of blocks to choose from.

TBH my GTX 480s really weren't that bad in SLi. Nowhere near as bad as people had led me to believe any way.

Nothing a decent set of headphones couldn't take care of any way :D

Wow, that brings back memories. Thinking about it now I did have them in about the best case you could have picked for SLi though. I think the spacing was also critical.

Neat cable management. I had to stuff all mine in a really tight case, I managed to shoe-horn a 280mm and 140mm radiator in there though.

Only picture I still have left http://i.imgur.com/8m7dLdR.jpg

My wife said it was either get rid of the cards or she was leaving so we compromised on watercooling.

You can tell they're 480's cause they had that cut out in the PCB where the fan took in more air from the back etc

noice ! water was but a pipe (groan) dream for me then. They really weren't that bad though. The GTX 280 I had was far worse that thing was like a storage heater.

Been there with my wife too haha. I promised three PCs was where I would stop. :D
