Asus GTX 660ti OC edition, is it worth it?

Hi guys, can anyone help me out?

I'm looking for a new graphics card and I've had my eye on the Asus 660ti's I'm just wondering if anyone can advise me on which version to get.
The OC edition comes factory over clocked to 1058MHz vs the standard versions 980MHz but costs around £50 more.
Does anyone know if the GPU boost software they come with would push the standard one upto the same speeds as the OC edition?

I've not built a rig for almost 10 years and I've not over clocked for for even longer so more than a software over clock is a bit daunting to me atm.

It would depend on the chip whether you can actually push it to the same clocks, though I would say it's probably possible. Not guarantees though, especially since the voltage of the 660Ti's are locked - which especially isn't ideal given it's already a lower binned chip.

I wouldn't be too worried about the overclocking process itself though, I personally can't really explain the specific software and such have little experience with it, but the process has been simplified significantly over the last few years. Now it's really just a matter of adjusting some sliders and stress testing the card, which is probably easier than building the PC itself.

Though the HD7950 may be worth considering as semausbeathan said unless you need the specific features of the 660 Ti, in terms of pure performance and overclocking potential they are better.

EDIT: Forgot to say this, but I wouldn't say the OC edition is worth it, especially for the extra £50. They do have the advantage of better overclocking potencial as they are higher binned chips, but I'd really only recommend it if the price difference was >£20.

A- that amount of OC is not worth 50 pounds.
B- why spend 300 bucks on a standard 660ti anyway if you could spend same 300 bucks on a 7950 that can outperform a 400 bucks 670?
