Hmmm..
There are several features that look very tempting to me. First is the claim that it can accurately represent 98 per cent of the Adobe RGB color space. If that is true, it's very impressive, not unique but very cool. Second color differences to Delta E less than 5 levels. That kind of color accuracy is absolutely unheard of in any display technology that I am aware of. As a DCC artist that is the sort of thing that gets me very excited. Third is this Quick-fit Virtual Scale technology. If it allows for exact scale of documents, that means, I could in theory, model to scale from reference materials with a keystroke setup. Now that would seriously save me time in my work-flow. Fourth is This monitor has display port. That makes multiple monitor setup a whole lot less hassle. The viewing angle, stand and other minor features sound great to, yada..yada..yada...
There is just one thing that could ruin what otherwise would seem like a perfect monitor. Yep you guessed it, the price. If this monitor is at reasonable then Asus will have a blockbusting winner with this monitor. However if the price is to high, Asus will have a giant fail. The problem is that at the high end there is already tough competition in a narrow market. The other players in that market already have deep inroads in the enterprise space. Firms like boeing, Toyota, Ford, GM, Airbus ect... are not going to look to Asus to provide them with High precision monitors for they're engineering teams. They are going to source them from Dell, HP and the like because they already have contractual relationships with them.
Anyway, I digress...
I hope the price is set at the consumer level because it sounds like a great product. If it delivers what it claims and in my experience "Asus is pretty good about that" and as I said the price is right, you will find me among the first in line to get one of these.
