ASUS Brings out ENGTX480 and ENGTX470 GPUs

I think the name Fermi was changed to only include the Tesla series. Since these are Geforce cards, it should read "nVIDIA’s GF100-based graphics cards are out and OEM partner ASUS has taken the lead in lining up its own GPUs based on the new cards."

Amazes me that MSI are bringing out 7 versions of the 4xx range.

Being asked about which manufacturer to pick, and in all honesty I'm torn between saying ASUS/GIGABYTE/MSI/EVGA - merely cos of the quality of the delivery, including inhouse software. That may or maynot work on other cards.

Am I the only one noticing the totally wrong specs for the stream processor count? It says 1401 for the 480 and 1215 for the 470.

I've seen those prospective cuda speeds. Generally they're 2x the gpu count. There are some oc models about too with higher figures.

I just noticed XFX models being sold by Scan as part of their 3XS models - which is weird cos "news" would have it that nVidia shunned them. Another bunch of crap.

There is some truth to that, XFX have gone down a different route though. I cant say much but XFX cards wont be the same as all the others.... (probs gone too far there)

Maybe they'll come in boxes like the Gigabyte ones that have ATI 5xxx highlights on the back of them.

In anycase, Scan's XFX cards are reference like the rest with the 3XS containing 2 in SLI.

Fraid not Rasta, its going to be getting changed as XFX will 100% not be releasing reference fermi's and thats straight from the mouths of XFX them selves.

Its just Scan jumping the gun when XFX havnt even gone into production yet ;)

any reviews ime thinkin of a gtx 470 for 300smackers

EDIT: found a review the 470 seems a decent upgrade from a 9800gtx playin at 1900*1080

What if I was to tell you scan is wrong, and thought they would have the XFX cards by now eh?

Whats your email addy Ill forward you the responses Ive got :D

OC3D has had my email for years, but emails between urselves and whatever manufacture should remain between urselves.

It interests me that they've not gone into 'production' where's the shops, such as Scan, are pre-ordering their own ScanFX versions.

Its an error on scans part, I spoke to XFX direct and they do not even have any GPU's from nvidia yet, and will not be releasing any reference design cards.
