I don't know how any company can think that taking their well known and respected brand name and turning it into 3 stupid names is going to do them any favours.

Unihan and Pegatron? ROFL. I bet the guy who came up with those names is a big Transformers fan and actually said "Unicron" and "Megatron", but was misquoted because he had a blocked nose. I can see Asus selling them off to avoid the stigma.

heh, these kinds of things arent rare in Asia.

its done to avoid tax, and at the same time allowing them to target different sectors of the market with a new name that no one knows and hope that new name will gain a high status in that sector of market.

just like cars, Lexu=Toyota, Infiniti=Nissan, Acura=Honda, higher price, slightly different looks, but same car.
