ASUS announce their ROG XG Station 2 external GPU enclosure

ASUS has announced new their ROG XG Station 2 external GPU enclosure, which can be used to power up to 500w GPUs and contains an ethernet controller and a 4-port USB 3.0 hub.

My math might be off but are the 6+2 connections over spec on delivery or is the PCIe slot? (150W/6+2 connector x2) + 75W PCIe slot = 375W?

It's a pretty cool thing to see a push for these, especially given so many powerful mobile ultrabooks without dGPUs. Also, why not 1 or 2 larger fans vs many smaller fans? Seems like the idea would be to not have this sound like a 2u rack?

Power wise ASUS are just playing it safe in case AMD wants to try something insane like an R9 295X2 again, which went beyond PCIe spec to consume up to 500W with 2x 6+2 pins.
