hello everyone,
ok i know your Reading the title and going nuts because its a "Gaming Headset". but hostilely when i started looking for a headset and sound card combo for my new rig i wonted to be hear footsteps, reloads (high freq sounds) really well and be able to do everything else decently. i had Astro A40s previously and loved them. so basically what im asking is what are your opinions on these headsets for gaming as i have a 5.1 surround sound setup as well and do you think i should pair them with a card like the ASUS ROG Xonar Phoebus Sound Card or ASUS Xonar D2X
thanks

As an Astro A40 owner myself, I don't think it's a good choice. It's the Astro Mixamp which makes the A40s so good.
I'd check out the new Corsair Vengeance 2000 headset, as they seem to outclass the Astros.

I have astro A40s (with the mixamp) with a xonar D2x and although they sounds great i think if i had my time again, i would probably would have made a more "educated choice" and gone with a different headset, my mates were getting them and i got sucked in. I would say whatever gaming headset your going for, make sure you have a good soundcard behind them, it will enable you to get the most bang for your buck from any headset
