Bloooooomin solid.. Got a kack teacher who refuses to help me when im stuck, gives me 3 HOURS homework from one lesson, ive had to get my friend over today whose mum helped him to give me a hand.. GRRRRRRR.. Seriously hard and we are only on Core 1.. god help me next year, i think im going to have to get me a private tutor... Any of you guys do it/done it find it difficult or am i just not cut out for it.. At GCSE i got an A and A* in maths and additional maths Pilot.

I got an A in my GCSEs for it and that required a private tutor as my teacher was a moody moo cow. I chose right there and then not to do any more maths than necessary (programming does require some). I'm on a vocational ICT course worth 3x A levels (360UCAS points) over 2 years ^^

Good luck - try a private tutor if u felt friends mum helped

I thought it was okay in my first year, but ended up with an E. So obviously quite deluded there.. Last year I got a C for the whole A level which is a pretty impressive turn around. However, yes it is hard for most people, but some find it incredibly easy and then go on to do a degree in maths or statistics or something similar. I got an A for GCSE and quickly found that people from other schools who has lower grades (B/C's) knew more and had done more work than I had for my GCSE. There's a lot of homework that you'll have to do as there is a lot to do in a year/2 years if your doing the whole A level. If you do physics, try to take the Mechanics maths module as it is a lot easier than statistics if you've done some work in physisc on momentum, equations of motion etc.

I'm at uni now in my first year, studying physics and I wish I was better at maths to be honest.

The most helpful thing for me I think was:

http://www.mathsnet.net/

Absolutely invaluable, gives good examples, practice questions, the lot.

Best of luck to you :)

There are a lot of people who are just naturally really good at maths, I chose not to talk to those people... And yeah I had to work hard in the second year, its a lot harder to make up ground then because everything else has got harder and made you work more. Considering my first year at college I got an E for Maths and Computing, a D for Electronics and a B for Physics. At the end of the second year I got 3 C's and into Cardiff uni, which was my first choice.

Most probably I didn't work hard enough in my first year, and never found out how I work best. There's a lot of proofs and things like that that at the end of the day you just have to learn. If you don't you can't do the questions. Which was probably my biggest problem first time round.

Aye, i think i need to work harder.. I should get an A in art, and hopefully i can do well in everything else aswell :)
