arctic cooling freezer 7 - marks on copper?

I couldn't say for certain as I've never seen the base of another ACF7, but it looks like just the welds to me.

theres another one i found by google, looks nice and shiny

just doesn't look right to me, but i am not an expert

want clarification before i fit, so i can send it back as in the same condition

Aah yea I see where you mean now. Can you lift that thermal pad up with a knife and check underneath? As long as it's only on the edge and not in the area where the CPU would sit, it won't matter.

oh right

well i wouldn't be applying any other paste, i do not have any here either

but i will have to buy some , and i will scrape it off now

That does look a little ordinary, mine wasn't anything like that. It looks like that one may have slipped through AC QC. But as XMS said, if it doesn't extend any further it should be fine

AC Freezer Pro

Yeah, does indeed look like it slipped thru QC. Send it back mate. Best that you get yourself one that's perfect, rather than worrying if your temps could be better ;)

macro?

so looks like its no good then guys?

i have contacted the seller, with my findnings

Macro is for taking close-up shots on your camera. Usually depicted by a picture of a flower.

Why take anything less than perfect if it's brand new ;)

maybe my camera is duff to, no luck!

lol :wavey:

got a reply off the seller

Hi there this will not effect the performance in anyway copper bases some times are not perfect.

I would say this item is not faulty and unless you purchase a whole copper heatsink like the zalman range you will not get that perfect copper base with every heatsink produced.

You should not have removed the compound as this has voided your warrant with us you should have contacted prior to advise if item was faulty or damaged in transit. I strongly suggest you fit the heatsink we build systems daily and a blemish on copper will not hinder the performance in any way. However if you are still unhappy you do have a 6 year warranty with Arctic cooling i would suggest that you contact them to advise you are unhappy with thier workmanship.

Aye what he said is fair, albeit a little naff customer service.

Your running at stock anyway so it will make little difference

And as Tox said, try a little TIM cleaner or something
