Arc Midi R2 Gaming Rig - Budget-ish...

I'd had my previous rig (Q6600 based) for 6 years so thought it was time for a change. The build was done with budget in mind but also not wanting to scrimp too much and miss out on some performance - costs weren't too bad as I've basically raided all the reusable stuff from my old rig and combined it in to this one.

Specs
New bits
Intel i7 4770k - Running with stock cooler at the moment - looks a bit out of place but I'll be getting an H105 once my bank balance has recovered
Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400 8gb
Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 using the supplied fans.

Reused bits
Asus GTX560 Ti 1gb Direct CUII
OCZ Agility 3 120gb
Seagate Barracuda 750gb
BeQuiet Pure Power L8 630w PSU

I've gotten it all about as neat and tidy as I can be bothered to at the moment. I'd intended to have the PSU the other way up but the 24 pin and 8 pin motherboard leads are on the wrong side of the PSU and aren't long enough to reach behind the motherboard try so had to fit it the other way up.

Future plans are to get an Corsair H105 to replace the stock cooler and see how luck I've been with the CPU. Once that's done I'll be saving up for a new GPU - probably a GTX 770.

Nice, that is a lovely case! I hope my bits look as good as yours once i put the gubbins in mine :P You could always take that hard drive bay out if not in use to help with airflow if you wanted aswell. Nice photos man! :D

Thanks! I turned it round that way to help with air flow but decided to leave it in as it helps hide some of the cables.

Yea that's cool, i would/will be in the dilemma of where the hell do i put it to keep it safe :p Is a lovely case and that mobo, as always looks sweet :D

New cooler fitted - Running at 4.4ghz now at 1.225v and seeing temps of around 65c using Intel Extreme Tuning and around 72-75c using OCCT at 1700rpm fan speed. Slightly higher than I would like but I had to mess around a bit getting the waterblock mounted due to a badly cut thread on one of the standoffs so the TIM application probably isn't great and it might not be sitting 100% as it should do so if Corsair will send me some replacement standoffs I'll do a refit and see if anything improves.

Just need to add in some white LEDs to illuminate the internals and then it's save up for a new GPU and a new SSD for games etc. Will probably look at some SP120HPE's for the rad as the 120L's have a bit of a drone once the RPM's crank up a bit.

OCD kicking in, red memory on a green board :( Other than that, this is a sweet build dude!

Yeah, I know. Not much I can do about it though unless Corsair start offering some more colours! Don't really fancy getting the paint out!

New graphics card purchased

Fair bit bigger than my 560 Ti!

Tight squeeze but I was able to keep the middle drive bay installed.

Just need to try and figure out how to run the PCI-E cable a bit more neatly. Might need to get a braided extension.

Short of changing motherboard there's not much I can do about it. Not many people to stuff with green accents. Not going to keep me awake at night.
