Apple with 55 Percent Profit on 8GB iPhone

It seems that Apple may be making quite a nice bit of money from each iPhone sale. iSuppli estimates that Apple makes 55% profit from each sale of the iPhone. Check out the news for more information.

I'm for big companies making big money, it's called good marketing. Apple has the best marketing group in the world as far as I'm concerned. They've carefully tuned their selling price as to not scare people away yet maximize profits, what any SMART business would do. Cheers!

Apparently they arent all that great and the price is pushing people away. Everybody ive talked to (even in the mall, and those people have loads of money here) said they wouldnt buy one becasue the price is to high for a phone. (And these are people walking around with Treos and PDAs and whatnot)

Yeah that's why they had people CAMPING at their stores to get them...

its an ipod with 4/8gb, which go for $200 or so, a phone, $200 or so with the same functions, has internet, basically a comp, and amazing features for $500, i would say high price, but when u think about it the cost fits

IIRC, when the Moto Razr's first came out, they were some ridiculous price too, like $500... And it really is just your basic phone, so I don't think Apple's pricing is too far out of whack.

It's not ridiculous, just good marketing and a decent device. As Frag said there's phones out there that are more and do less.

I won't be buying one, but if my contract was due for renewal later then maybe I'd get one
