Apple will reportedly use a custom AMD SoC in a future Mac Pro

Interesting. So just on Mac Pros? Not Macbooks?

Hard to know really. If Apple works to create a strong SoC and software which can use HSA they could really be onto a winner here.

This could potentially get back the "Mac is for creators" crowd back.

Another possible blow to the MBP, plenty of productivity apps in the design field will not function correctly in terms of hardware acceleration (or even basic function with real-time rendering etc) when using an APU vs the discrete card.

I'd be surprised if they do this for the Mac Pro unless they want to move it to a cloud computing based system. Its much more likely to be for the Macbook or the iMac.

So with AMD SoC being generally cheaper to use than an Intel counterpart, are they going to reduce the cost of their hardware? ................ Oh wait, that's a silly question!
