Apple Laptop?

Futures Truth

Well, I was looking at the Macbook pro. With 15.4 inch screen. As i get a mad discount on any of them because of my mom. I want a laptop since I'm also going into college.

Heres the Specss

15.4-inch widescreen display

1440x900 resolution

2.16GHz Intel Core Duo(1)

1GB (single SO-DIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM

100GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive

4x SuperDrive

ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB GDDR3 memory

One FireWire 400 and two USB 2.0 ports

I may up it to a 2GB 667 DDR2 - 2x1GB SO-DIMMs & 120GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm

The question is. Could it handle FFXI or WoW or Anarchy Online or EQ2?

I'm a whore for MMORPG's, plus music editing stuff and photo editing, anddd files for papers and such?

What are your opinions?Worth the money? I need a laptop since I could take notes easier :]

Fragtek, I know you have an opinion, so out with it!

Thanks!

Yeah that thing should be good to go on WoW or Anarchy. An X1600 is a decent card in it's own right - ask dav0s :)

It's decent for the money and it's an apple so it's good quality. Mebbe a better Dell would be better specced for the same price but it's not an Apple and won't run OSX.

Get 1 x 1gb memory or a very small amount of memory and get an external upgrade from crucial or somebody to save some cost :)

yup, props tot he x1600, probably one of the best budget cards I have owned (despite the terrible drivers)

MBP will pwn all of the games listed, I can guarantee u of that. I play mad amounts of games that get pwned by the x1600, it's a super card. But, the 15.4" MBP has a downclocked version of it, the 17" MBP is the only way to get the most power for gaming.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705, which is very similar to the 17" Macbook... only good things to say about it so far. I think you'd be quite happy with a Macbook :)

However if you haven't got it yet you may want to wait a week or two; there are rumors of an impending update to Merom (C2D) CPUs.

I heard that they were going to hold off on Merom all together in the current gen MacBook's and put them in with the next gen that have the new case design and the whole nine yards. Has that changed again?

I like the idea of the MacBook Thin :D Not that 1" isn't uber thin as it is, but dang, how much thinner can we get with notebooks? :)
