Anyone Seen This? Intel Pentium D 805 OC From 2.66GHz to 4.1GHz!

Stuck one of those chips in a rig for a mate, overclocked it to 3.6ghz on an Asrock mobo (no vcore) with stock voltage

Yeah gotta love the way Tom's makes a huge deal about it.

Maybe you should make a thing like that on

"How to OC a £120 146 to over 3GHz" ;)

well i didnt know 146 opterons were that cheap in UK mate. But the 4.1 ghz is a dual core. So its effectively 2x4.1ghz processors. The 65nm P4s are doing 4.5ghz + on air for a lot of users over at XS. So the opteron doing 3 ghz isnt a big thing. Most of the optys do hit 3 ghz. But again its a single core vs dual core and future is dual core. So for a 129 USD dual core chip to overclock upto 4.1 ghz is definitely a big thing in my books.

Im actually planning on getting one for my sister's comp and lapping the IHS , and sticking it under a Ninja or a BT lapped. Should be fun to see some 4 ghz oc on air , dont ya think ??? Think of the folding power of Twin 4.1 ghz engines :D and all for 129 USD. Talk about price/performance ratio !!!!!!!

That being said , that article sucked ass. They mentioned a whole lot of nothing and nothing about a whole lot of other important things. Retarded in my books. :nono:

Oh I totally agree that the 805's are great processors. But the way the article was done was like

"WOW how AMAZING is that!! Wow we're the best!"

Its Tomshardware , what else can u expect from them. They suck Intel off for breakfast and take it up the ass for dinner. No other website in the world has been as hard on AMD products as toms have and yet they chose AMD 64 procs as the most innovative in their yearly awards. You can only be biased so much eh ;) .

Totally agreed on Tom's. A long time ago they used to be a good review site, but they've obviously been in bed with Intel far too much.

well when they were a good site , they were tooting intel then too , just intel was better than AMD's Athlon XP at that point with HT and everything . Those were the Northwoods vs T-Bred B era. Its done and over with.

I agree with posts about how TH did that article a bit too over the top, but I have to agree that the 805 is a great chip.

Anyone done much with it in terms of gaming?

I'm considering swapping my system over to intel, I would go FX but KFC don't pay us 16 y.o that well.

BANNED! jk One of the guys I work with just picked up a few 805s. Hopefully they will get here soon and we can see what they can do.

On TH one of the pages has some results for games, the disappointing thing was that when the chip was O/C'd to 4.1Ghz it performed only a little bit better than the FX 57 (i think it was the 57)
