Just want to know if anyone has any experience with laptop coolers as im seriously thinking of buying one for my GS70 as the thing gets that hot where the 970 is you can't touch it and the fkey the 123 and qwe keys get quite warm too, I can feel the airflowing so it's not blocked or anything but it still gets hot
So what brand would you recommend or are they all pretty much the same?
The two brands that I've seen and can get are Deepcool and that swear word around here Thermaltacky correction I can also get Aerocool and Coolermaster and Zalman
Cheers for any replies

We had the coolermaster one for our 19" Acer Aspire 8530 (RIP) it kept it plenty cool, just not effective enough at cooling the HDD areas where the vast majority of laptop heat comes from, I really should have gone SSD on that Laptop.

Laptop coolers won't dramatically reduce the temps. It does help but getting one like the popular CM models mean they will certainly make it bulky and add some noise. I think you could also open up the laptop and clean out any dust and add some thermal paste to help.

The only thing worrying me is the laptop is only a month and a half old so it shouldn't be full of dust and i had a look today and there are no blockages and with the chassis being metal I think it just heats up real quick and retains it, yet when I stop gaming it does cool down within 5-10mins so I thought the cooler might help it a bit

Have you tried just placing something under the laptop to raise it? As I have found this method to work quite a bit better for performance notebooks.

Have run some tests and everything seems to be normal, i ran valley for 15mins at 4x aa and the max temperature on the GPU was 85 deg C @1032mhz with gpu boost so for a laptop that's pretty good i think due to the thinness of the laptop the heat is transferred to the aluminium shroud and if you touch 85 deg it's gonna be hot so maybe a laptop cooler might help with some of the heat and they're cheap enough to try

I'm using ice packs wrapped in a paper towell :D
See if you can grab a deepcool multicore X6 or a Zalman ZM NS200. A friend of mine has bought these two. One for this router and one for his notebook! Both do a good job ^_^
