hey just got the program and setting up was fine and the PS3 found it straight away finding an playin music was fine and actualy sounded very very good.

the only issue i have is playing MKV files, now i no you need fast net to throw out 720p but apparetnly you can use your CPU to do most the work?

muxing its called apparently, anyway its stuttering like hell and in a nutshell how do i get the CPU to do most if not all the work

I have used PS3 Media Server, you cannot play .MKV files you need to convert them with mkv2vob to be able to play them, will sort the stuttering out aswell.

I find Tversity better the ps3 media server, seems more stable

Hope that helps

o it plays them tho just ither stuttery or lack of quality, when i was searching for ways to play MKV on the ps3 it says that converting them to vobs was oldschool and was not needed as the media server lest you play them.

tversity free edition keeps cutting me off so ile go to play say avatar 720p and i get a HTTP erorr and when i come upstarirs its disconnected

I used to have it stutter alot too, in the end I had to connect the PS3 via Ethernet, and played no probs......

Maybe they have done an update so that the PS3 now play .MKV as it never used to.

yer it is in the update.

the ps3 in connected wired to the router and i am wireless to the router.

how do you change the muxer?

Is the HDD you are steaming from wired???? in some way to the router.....

My Video files are on an external HDD, until I get my server, which is wired to my router and the PS3 is wired too.

No idea how to change the muxer, as haven't tried playing mkv's on ps3 yet, but will give it ago.... and let you know

my comp is upstairs and connected to the router wirelessly

the ps3 is downstiares wired to the router.

so i opne the media server on my comp and it sees the ps3 and lets me connect.

i just played some .mkv and they were fine lol.u have to remember its muxing the mkv

just that setting

i want the best possable quality for picture and sound

i found out how to change the muxer aswell but the tsmuxer (lighter if you dont need subs) seems to be slower at puting audio out wereas MDmuxer just takes abit longer but if you pause for like 1min then ur fine

In configuration I have the following settings :-

Preferred Audio - English (Of Course)

File Splitting - None

Video Transcoding - Automatic

Output file Ext - MPG

Output Type - File

Preferred Sub - None

Transcoding Codec - x264 (Slow)

Also have "Always Transcode DTS" ticked

yer i am just doing it now the picture looked good on avatar 720p when i used the VObconverter but as i said there was no sound.

well they are playing fine now after i found out how to limit the bandwith and use more on the CPU also if you just pause the film for like 30-1min its fine i played with the buffer size aswell and it seems to play just fine.

i have added some vobs to the shared folder now so ile have a play with them later.

i suggest u use the media server again its very stable from what i am seeing and for .avi i have not had one issue it bufferd it very very quick
