Antec 1200 purchased!

Well decided on a new case and bought a antec 1200. Mighty case if i may say so. Altho i decided to take the jig saw to the side window of the case. As that mesh did my head in just looking at it. ( i do have pics of the current mod if anyone wants to see)

My question is . is there any worthwhile mods doing to the antec1200 before i start a build? Im just debating replacing fans or at least fitting a manual front mounted controller.

Any thoughts welcome. My plan is to build a new i7 powerd system with possibly water cooling if my budget allows. we shall see though!

power supply reccomendations welcome!

Thanks in advance

Chris :)

The Antec twelve hundred looks awesome! What a great case! For water cooling, Antec offers a 200mm rad for that case but it's made of aluminium. Since it's made of alu, it does not work very well with copper. So if you go with that rad, you'll have to take aluminium water blocks. You can fit a 120X3 in the front of that case but you will have to do some cuts. I am quite sure that it is possible to fit a 120X2 in the top if you make an adapter. Search the Web to see those mods. For the PSU, I have an Enermax and it's working great. Waiting for your updates!

Actualy if you have decent anti-corrosion additive in your coolant copper and alu are fine, its only when they actual touch it causes major problems ;)

what a great looking case defintely worth it

kinda cringed when i took the jig saw to it. Should look good though once the finishing parts turn up. then i can think about internals and what i want to do.

££££ best not tell the missus about it ! :wavey:

i do have pics of the side window mod. tbh i just found a guide online and followed that. turned out well. Ive since ordered all the new parts for the build. pics to follow as soon as im allowed to post them :)

you need to make more posts before you have access to any other site features dude!!

But not spam, or youll make the mods bark and set the post limit to 100 instead :p

haha i understand lol.

Anyhow ive gone ahead and orderd the new pc parts. Let the fun commence.

went with the gigabyte ex58-ud5 board and 920 i7 with mugen 2 cooler. 6GB DDR3 1600MHz PC12800 corsair memory / and antecs cwp 850watt supply made for the antec 1200 case. stick my zotac 8800gts 512mb card in with that and should be ok with any luck.

Was tempted by water cooling but tbh i just cant be botherd if im honest. altho see what happens in the future. might change me mind.

with the money that would have gone on water cooling grab yourself a 5850/8570 it will compliment the system a hell of alot better than an 8800 imo.

Yes the graphics card is deffo going to be upgraded. Just going to use it for the time being till i decide what i want. and let funds build back up !

Gone a bit mad over the past week with weird and wacky purchases lol:nono:
