As of tonight my second P4C800E Died from condensation

the pc just refused to boot...

removed the mach 2 head and found drops of water on the back of the board...

i had the back sprayed with pcb laquer...didnt stop it...

tried on air and its a no go..

i am sure its the board but i will have to check again tomorrow...

i think i focused the problem in the area around the screws...on their outside area...

I have no time to replace it etc etc so i wont be online for a few weeks...

got exams coming...

see ya all in a few days then

will go to the library to catch up when i can...

phil, i still want the lianli-pc65 kit ;) :D

Protective coating

the 'proper' conformal coat is a liquid that you brush on, so can get it reasonably thick or an aerosol. With some concoats the fumes give you an instant hangover though:( It has worked on boards I've had thru 1000 hrs of 85% RH and 85°C temperature. An example is at RS Components part 714-462 at £6.51 + VAT etc - that must be better than a dead mobo!

hui buddy

thanks for that...

I decided to get another P4C800E

instead of the ic7 max 3 due to its vdimm flunctuations..

so its gonna be an asus again...

BUT this time i am thinking of a better way to prevent condensation...

i will cover the full area on the back of the mobo with seal string...thin layer...so no possible way of condensation i guess....

i am pretty sure now its the area arround the back plate screws that are causing the problem....this time i will seal the outside area of the back plate too...

bah...that was the last thing i needed now...

that sux brw, really feel for you man, im considering some thick grease but am unsure atm :S

i know mate...its the second board too...

tell you what i will cover the back of mine with seal string..i think i have decided...

if i apply the string all over the back plate area..and then continue as normal applying the back plate with its insulation how on earth will condensation form?

its easy to apply the seal string with your hands once its a bit warm...you dont need much...

only prob is that i need to sort out my board...and i got no time now :(

Sorry to hear about your board mate, I've managed to kill a couple of NF-7s 2.0 boards in the last week.

I am a little confused as to what happened there was no condensation!, anyways good luck with your exams :)

wow got my tubes of grease today and two cleaning sprays...

i didnt expect the tubes to be huge so ordered 4 lol...its too much...and 2 sprays for cleaning the board

the spray i will say is great

cleaned my board from the pcb laquer in minutes...

time to rma the board :D

i will post some pics the tomorrow since my neoprene is coming too...
