An Official Elder Scrolls Cookbook is in the works

If Bethesda ever releases a physical version, don't pre-order it. Keep in mind that it could be handwritten on a piece of toilet paper.

After the travesty that is Fallout 76 and me being in a £175 hole I am back to pirating games. Seriously, it's back to being joke levels again.

The ironic part? it was Fallout 3 that got me stumping up the cash for games again. I really thought Bethesda could do no wrong.

I will never pre order another Bethesda game. TBH? all the time they are using that crap engine I won't buy any of their games, period. Seriously it's so bad it gives me motion sickness and headaches.

Not something you should be claiming fella, support the whole dev team not the production company. It's a huge effort making games and piracy is not something I personally can accept.

I don't care any more.

Games these days are all crap. Try and remember, I've played titles such as Half Life and Half Life 2. So I know what a good game is supposed to be, and none of the games I have bought and paid for are very good.

I trusted Bethesda to not completely fleece me. I thought that is what they didn't like, and didn't think that is what they were about. I was totally wrong. £175, and they could not even provide the product I had paid that much money for. First they screw me with a bag, then they give me the worst game I have ever played in my entire life. It really is a complete eyesore.

It doesn't work, crashes all the time, looks fuzzier than my chest and is just complete trash. It's a ten minute "in out in out wipe it on the curtains", a completely blatant and utter con job.

I said years ago that I never bought any Origin titles. Well, I never bought any EA games. And I maintained that stance for many years. I only ever buy them when they are on sale cheap, as I don't want my money encouraging their crappy tactics.

Well now I am that way about Bethesda. As I said, it is truly ironic that Fallout 3 was the game that made me rethink my stance, and from that moment on I bought and paid for every single game I played, even if many were rubbish.

But now? at £175? yeah, I don't think so. It's not even like I have not tried. My buddy and I have played it all over Christmas, but it's just been no fun at all. Had it not been for him I wouldn't have played it for more than a couple of hours, but he seems hell bent on getting some sort of value out of it and we all know that isn't going to happen.

They upped the stakes, threw their dice and crapped out. And it has repercussions. You don't get to fleece people like that and just walk away, laughing on your way to the bank.

I wouldn't even mind if it weren't so utterly blatant and full of BS and lies. I mean FFS the other night we were walking across a town (all boarded up of course, as is the tradition in that game) and something lifted straight out of Skyrim f*****g flew over us.

Like, really? they are really going to be that lazy and that stupid to do things like that? It seems so.

It's awful. Just, absolutely awful. They can't even get the level system correct so my friend and I came up across first a level 35 monster (we are level 13) and then a level 45 ghoul that killed us about eight times before we could get away. I threw 8 molotovs at it, 3 baseball grenades and 11 frag grenades but we couldn't kill it because it was basically impossible, what with it being four times higher than my friend (who was level 11 at the time).

We then go go a town to hand in and finish a quest, where we are met by about 30 level 35 super mutants. I broke every weapon I had, before we high tailed it out of there.

That simply should not happen AT ALL. Then we were faced with more grind work killing scorched to rob them of their s****y weapons because all of our s****y weapons had broke.

It really is absolutely no fun whatsoever.

Because you spent so much on a game you're now back to pirating because it's not worth the amount you spent? Pretty stupid honestly. So this money you spent put you over the edge to go back to pirating because you hate the game and now you're back to pirating games that hurts OTHER devs that have 0 to do with Fallout.

Yeah real smart. Screw everybody over because you made yourself look like a fool for putting an absurd amount into the game by your own choice.

Nope. Because the only developer/publisher I had any trust for screwed me I am now back to being completely non trusting of any developer at all.

Blame me if you want to. I don't mind.

Maybe if Bethesda thought about what they were actually selling to their crowd would have been a good idea. You know? surely some one stepped up and said "god, this is terrible we can't sell this !".

I also payed £175 for fallout 76, my own fault nobody else certainly not other game developers, in actual fact the team of 4 which me and wraith play in are loving fallout on the whole.

It's you that is making it good. The game itself is awful.

It's not your fault you were sold a cheap plastic bag dude. I wouldn't even mind so much, if they didn't pull that. That's dirty. It's all the tricks of selling a crap video game, but IRL.

Like they usually sell you virtual in game items. This though? this was real.

Don't play them then. Problem solved.

It's really hard to condone piracy when the vast majority of games go on sales all the time. You don't have to get every game that you want to play on launch. If you only wait a few months you'll easily get it for 50% off. Sometimes more. And by then, you'll get a clearer picture of how good the game is, thanks to all the reviews, and you'll get a version that's been patched.

Didn't they give people the chance to replace the crap bag with the proper one on their support page

Yes, but no ship time was granted and they had already pulled the trick. Had they emailed me before it shipped telling me I was getting a plastic one I'd have likely cancelled it..

……………

Piracy could been seen as one of the pushes that got us here. I agree that the state of games these days is aweful, you either get half a game and pay again for DLC or tonnes of microtransactions, and that's on the good AAA titles.
I don't think that piracy is the right way but I am with you on the games these days are crap picket line.

I said a few years ago that this is the way games are going, its too profitable for publishers not to, look at CSGO, Valve don't even design the skins they are made by the community but they peddle them for 2 quid a go and then take 10% if you then want to sell it on their "Community market". Valve has made millions on these and did pretty much no work to make that, you tell anyone that making millions from virtually nothing is not good business sense.

Piracy is not what has "got us here". Greed is what has got us here.

TBH? piracy these days is close to impossible. Finding the games without a newzbin account is all but impossible, thanks to the censorship being slapped out by the govt. Did you read that thing about adult sites (Pron?) you now will need an ID card to access them.

Most of the sites that allow you to download games are now blocked in our country, and finding torrent sites is impossible. As soon as one pops up? it's gone again.

You can no longer even translate a Youtube movie into audio. THAT is how hard it is to pirate anything these days. Stealing music is also now close to impossible, unless you have a sound card that can basically record itself. But most onboard? it's been disabled lol.

I didn't say I was going to steal "everything" I just said I was going to pirate games that interest me. Then I will make my decision as to whether I play them or not.

As for not buying games? DO NOTE that over the past 18 months I have bought and paid for about 20 games. My collections are enormous, yet I played 2 of them. Why? because the others bored me so badly.

I paid £30 for SW Battlefront, then never played it because it has no single player game and so on and so forth.

If a game is good? hell yeah I will pay for it, but we all know deep down that there really aren't any good games any more. It became all about money, as usual, and that has ruined it (not piracy).

Even FO76 is loaded to the hilt with ways to screw you out of more money. $15 for some Christmas emoticons lmfao. Now you would think after the disaster they would give that stuff away as an apology but nope, gotta buy your Fallout tokens !!!!

The same can be said for PC gaming and hardware. As soon as it becomes trendy the prices get ridiculous..

To be fair, most of those blocks are easily subverted by adding "Proxy" to your search or using something like Opera's built in VPN or the Tor browser.

Music ripping from YouTube is still fairly easily doable, it's technically only even illegal in one country(Denmark) iirc.

It's definitely a lot harder to pirate games now, especially if you want to play online, then it's almost pointless, but there are a lot more incentives to buying nowadays I'd say, with regular heavy sales past initial launch on most titles & lots of features accompanied with the platforms you can buy the titles legally on, like cloud saves & friend systems, with most games using dedicated servers for more or less everything.
Today pirating anything more than a year old generally isn't worth the effort against paying ~£10 or less(+£5 for AAA) for it in a sale.

I have cupboards full of games. Then when it switched to all pretty much online I have huge game lists, of games that I have paid for. Seriously, if you saw all of the games I have (spanning over 20+ years) then you would know that I am more than happy to pay for a good game.

Sadly for the past few years I've been more than happy to pay for games I don't even play. Which is down to the game...

I've bought pretty much every big title around now (COD BLOPS 4, FC5, FC5 new dawn pre order, BFV, SWBF II and etc) and out of all of them I have played BFV for about ooo, an hour? then it started getting boring. Same old, get in a tank drive across some sand *yawn noises*.

The only games that have hooked me this Xmas? SOTTR (will be buying that later, it really is acebest) and Burnout Paradise Remastered (which I have paid for). However, BOP RM does not support over 60 FPS, and had I known that I'd have just played my older one with lesser graphics.

I didn't like ROTTR, which again, I bought and paid full price for. I got stuck on a part, could not do it and then stopped playing. Praying that doesn't happen with SOTTR, because the story in that is exceptional. Story wise it's probably the best game I have played in years and years.
