AMD's V-Cache Enhanced Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor is now available for under £350

Very much needed considering the 13600K is better in most instances and cost less. Now the 5800X3D is cheaper. Gotta love competition!

For me it ain't, seeing as I'm already on AM4 plattform. For me, being on an 3700X, going 5800X3D would yield me a lot more both perfomance wise and economically than going 13600K :)

Is it worth going from a 5800X to a 5800X 3D?

I would say no.

I would say it would depend on its price, the 5800X3D can hold its own against the current generation CPU releases for gaming when paired with a modern GPU, if however, you are looking for a balanced allrounder then perhaps the 13600K route is the better choice; that would all depend on your budget and willingness to jump platform though.

It's totally not worth it under any circumstance.

The 5800x is no slouch.

If it were a 3800x or prior I would say maybe. But for the gains you would get which would all depend on your GPU any way it's not worth doing at all.

TBH he doesn't need to upgrade to anything, so suggesting he consider Intel is crazy dude. That would only be worth considering if you were on Ryzen 1 or 2.
