AMD's RDNA 3 Navi 31 GPU reportedly has a huge 384-bit memory bus and 24GB of RAM

There is a lot flying around atm, unsure if it's all exact, but 7 chips is going to cost a wack without doubt, but i'd not be surprised if there is big bumps all round in all ways, but 7 chips will cost a lot more than current gen simply cause of the silicon use regardless of if it's cheaper to produce that much on one card not going to be cheap at all.

Could even see some 7x50xt series cards straight from the get go to split up the stack more.

Yeah, if it's 7 chips it will probably be on the 7900xt or 7950xt only, with lower-end cards having less chips, nonetheless if it's 7 chips I'd expect them all to be very small.

Most likely ryzen size chiplets not as if they don't pack a punch and the packaging with that size makes more sense as they have experience. I just hope they do as well as rdna2 has as it's new arch hopefully they wont have some weird issue. The one thing amd have done right since ryzen is hit their target dates and performance uplifts almost in line with their roadmap.

I do however feel we could see the top card being a new sku named something different maybe even a boring name like xtx but something i feel.

I'm getting a little worried that the hype train for RDNA3 is going to come crashing to a halt just like it has done every new generation.

I'm less hype'd over rdna3 than i was rdna2, but it's more as it really depends on if their new way of the chiplet design like ryzen can work as well on radeon so i'm a wait an see atm. It'll be one of two things it'll either amazing or not ready for prime time.

I think amd's biggest asset that can make it work is the experience with ryzen and the cache that the GPU's have, just hard to say if it'll do it or not, but i know that the arch is different and that the system will see the gpu as a single chip so it's all just about if it really works fully and has a huge uplift.

Just unsure atm myself to get hype'd and being honest i'm going to wait until mid way through AM5 before I upgrade this time as i don't want to be stuck on a first gen AM5 board with no upgrade path for so long again.

Honestly, if AMD with a chiplet design that's an evolution s the solidly performing RDNA2, although still a little behind NVIDIA, can't beat NVIDIA's RTX 40 with a monolithic design, then AMD is truly doomed in the GPU market. AMD needs to show they can beat NVIDIA now because next gen NVIDIA will come clashing down with their own multi-die design and AMD will simply stay one or two steps behind NVIDIA forever.

Would be nice if they did something to bring more value for our money in the GPU market tho, GPUs are just so expensive nowadays even just taking RRP/MSRP into account.

I'd say it's 90% possible I just sit back and watch AMD and NVIDIA having at each other this generation and just harvest the fruits of their clash next gen around. I do have hope this gen will bring some good changes in the GPU market for us, consumers.

I hope for an all out price war when Intel enters the market and they all actually fully compete and give better value like the past, but i'm really doubtful about that.

In all honesty even if amd beat nvidia in all areas due to the the chiplet design this gen coming, as you say nvidia will have their own coming the next gen and if they are beaten they will be scrambling to get new cards out asap.

Really all up in the air tbh we all know what we'd like but time will tell if we get anything different or not.

I'll be skipping this years newer gen, I have a 3080 Ti in my main rig and 6950XT in my HTPC, Think I'm set, I also have an inkling that prices are going to creep back up to crazy levels with the newer gen.

We all know your speaches Dice... You've said this before and still ended up buying new ^_^

hurr hurr hurr... ooh look shiny expensive object! $$$$

I already know you will end up with the 4080/ti and a 13900k.
